If I could give a negative review I would. My girlfriend and I have been to this restaurant multiple times before and never have had an issue with asking for a military discount. A lady named “Laney” told us very rudely that they only give military discounts to takeout orders? which makes no sense and felt as though there was a racial undertone as to why we weren’t treated the same as we have before. We were confused because we have received military discount the past 5 times we have been served at this restaurant. Laney truly made this experience awful…the minute we asked for the discount and I think her ego was slightly bruised when we asked that question… not sure why. we both love 224 and come here almost every other night when I am in town so it’s sad to have an experience such as this. hope y’all figure out your military discount policy and try to talk some sense into miss racist Laney as she seems upset when people who have served our country ask for a military discount.

Best pork chop I've had in Boston! Meals were incredible, service was attentive, great ambiance. Perfect date night spot! I'll be adding this to my list of recommendations for when fam is in town for sure!

My family and I were there for Sunday brunch and it was quite enjoyable. Everyone loved their meal and the service was excellent even though it was quite busy. We'll definitely be back!

Food was fresh, nicely prepared, and tasty. Service (Caroline) was excellent. It was a very cold night and the restaurant interior was QUITE COLD as well! Made the dining itself a bit uncomfortable. Fingers were white and numb! Perhaps 224 should look into a possible issue with their heating system. It is difficult and not very pleasant to eat with coats and gloves on! 224 WAS one of our favorite local restaurants...will try there again in warmer weather!

Serves one of the tastiest Breakfast Plates in the Boston area, a real hidden gem for weekend brunch.

224 Boston is a cozy restaurant that can accommodate larger groups, so it was a good spot for our family of eight to enjoy a meal before the theater. The menu is mostly Italian inspired, American dishes. We went on a pretty quiet night so I could see how this would be a great date spot or a nice place to chat over dinner versus a loud and rowdy restaurant or bar. The service was better than OK, not exceptional. We had to ask for water a couple of times, but our waitress and food runner were kind and polite. The food was really just OK and didn't seem to match some of the higher price points. $37 for a pork chop that came without sides; each side an additional $8 to $10. It was $14 to add a piece of salmon to a salad, the salad alone costing $16, so at $30 I definitely expected to be wowed but the dish fell flat. The drinks were pretty good and the wine was reasonably priced although it was a small pour. I wouldn't go out of my way to return but overall we had an ok time.

This pains me to leave this review because this used to be my favorite place, after the last two stops the food was just awfull and cold, 1 out of 4 meals were satisfactory, but last night we went to give it one more try and ordered espresso martini and it was awfull using cheap ingredients will not gave a high quality drink, I then ordered a peppermint martini it was so bad, so we ordered calamari, no where on the menu do you see calamari with onion rings, it had more onion rings than calamari, so we asked the staff why it had onion rings was this a mistake? And the manager jumped up and said "read the menu it's stated on the menu that its severed with onions rings", we replied no it's not. She argued with us and we said "NO, we have the menu here No where does it state this"..... She was beyond rude and said well it used to be served with salad now it's onion rings, the other thing I noticed was the time we were there before the wine pours were so poor and very small, we were told get a bottle of wine if we were not happy, the waitress did agree but said the manager was watching and could not pour more, but the manager last night had the most generous pour and not just one, drinking at the bar at 8.30 pm and been rude to customers is how you run business into the ground. Sadly will never return after 16 years.

Stellar neighborhood spot for drinks, food, and attentive yet friendly service. My mom was undecided between 2 dishes, so I asked if we could order both and split, which was deftly executed & done with a friendly smile. Good wine selection. The fish we ordered was tasty & cooked well. The only potential downside is the bar is loud, but we weren't bothered once we sat in dining room. Definitely recommend and hope to enjoy again soon.

Wait staff was extremely friendly. The muscles and oysters were fantastic. The pasta left a bit to be desired, but we got the on the server did not recommend. Good food but a bit overpriced, however the service was top notch.

Very cozy space. I had the steak and eggs which was cooked perfectly. My daughter enjoyed her French toast. We also shared a mimosa flight which was delicious.

Didn't have a reservation, but we saw many open tables; however, we were told we could only sit outside. We finished our mediocre over-priced meal to find still many open tables. We will try a different option next time.

Prices are a little high and the decor is a tad too rustic. Food and service was perfect, worth the price!
