The banh mi was the worst sandwich I’ve had in years. Idk how they made so many tasty ingredients come together to have no flavor. The udon noodles also surprisingly tasted bad…I mean, how? The place is called umami lol. I rarely light up a place but this was memorably awful. To top it off, the place was dirty and the staff were apathetic at best.
Whitewashed garbage take on food that is really hard to mess up.
Wow where to begin. If you hire teenagers to run your restaurant for the summer they need to be properly trained. I got the vegan bahn mi and it was just vegetables on bread …the “vegan meat” was literally just sliced up mushroom, no flavoring in an attempt to mimick the roast pork flavor and there was also no cilantro and instead of sriracha mayo I got straight sriracha. My wife got the vegan bbq pulled pork sandwich which we’ve had before and it’s usually good, this time there was no sauce on the bun and the “meat” was completely dry and old looking. Total we spent about $30 including tip and neither of us were able to eat our food…will never return here.
A bit pricey, but good food
Great Sandwiches and Pizza
There are lots of pizza joints on the Cape. Most are terrible. Umami is not. The first thing I noticed was the owner, covered in flour from her waist to her clogs, pulling a pizza from the oven. She had my attention. Carole, I think her name is, has the audacity to mention Pepe's on her menu. Pshaw, her white clam pizza kills it. She just does a really good job at this joint. So glad I live nearby. Run don't walk.
There are hundreds of pizza joints on the Cape. Most are terrible. Quietly Umami has risen. When you walk into a pizza joint and the owner/operator is pulling a pie with flour covering her Levi's and chef clogs...well, ur on to something. Carol, I think her name is, has the audacity to call out Pepe's in New Haven. She kills it. The clam pie is ridiculous. I'm so honored to live close by. Don't miss this one. She's special.
The pizza flavor is good but the slices were super floppy. It was a one woman show so she was busy.
Edit: I was being kind and mentioned to your credit, you were running the whole operation. Next time, don't sell floppy pizza dough and act like it's ok. It was horribly cooked.
Stopped here and realized there are so many vegan options. The pizza was delicious and the homemade crust is so good! The udon noodles were also very delicious! Will return to try some other options:)
If you're ever in the area, you absolutely have to check out this charming little restaurant my mom and I stumbled upon during our weekend getaway from Connecticut. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a cozy atmosphere and friendly service. The pizza was absolutely delicious—crispy, flavorful, and just the right balance of toppings. I also tried the dill chicken salad wrap, which was fresh and packed with flavor.
As a connoisseur of baking, I cannot forget her delicious treats!! We indulged in both the keylime pie and the lemon cupcake, and wow, they were both phenomenal. Each bite was perfectly sweet and tangy, making them a must-try. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food and a warm, inviting vibe.

Perfect pizza experience! The gluten-free margherita was perfectly balanced - everything one hopes for and more. 10/10 recommend. Truly a local gem! 🍕🌿✨
Excellent pizza!
The pizza was delicious and the service was fast. They were also playing Taylor Swift’s cannon on shuffle and it was awesome! There are a lot of vegan and allergy friendly options too. We loved it !
Delicious wood fired pizza with fresh everything. The pizzas on the menu are delightfully creative - we had the Chick Chick (and honestly one of the best pizzas I’ve had). The whole food experience is really curated in the owners vision - from the menu to the sparkling sodas to the peanut butter-peanut butter cup cookies she had that day (which were just totally WOW). We are looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu!
Recommend the veggie vegan pizza with extra vegan cheese. Typically get it without the tomatoes or peppers so it’s a mushroom and onion pizza. Crust is so yummy.
