Backyard Taco used to be an island fav of mine. Visited last week and it seems to have taken a turn for the worst. Music and fun vibes gone, bathroom looked like a frat house, outdoor patio was tired, and bad service :( prices went up but tacos now served on flimsy paper plates, there are no napkins provided, and they ran out of tortilla chips by 7pm on a Saturday. Disappointed to say the least.

Raf the guy that owns this place is amazing! Such a fun vibe, and only food that’s open late in Edgartown. Make sure you hang up a dollar!

Limited menu and what we wanted wasn't available.

Very sad taco place! We ordered takeout and the whole thing was just disappointing. A few yuca chips for $9. Tacos were just not good, blend, with the Mexican style cheese we get at the grocery store, nothing that actually represents a real Mexican meal. Paid almost $50 for a very sad meal. Would never go back, unfortunately.

I love their steak tacos, and Vineyard Gatorade! :)

Ordered beef chicken tacos. The chicken was grey and the beef had literal Kraft Parmesan cheese sprinkled on it… also out of key staples like fish, pico de gallo, and yuca fries. I didn’t even see the grill running so who knows how they were prepared. The interior is pretty grimey which is typically fine, but not when they’re charging $8-9 per taco.

Look, I got recommended here by a local and took my family. Is it particularly bad, no! Is it good, absolutely not. Pretty dang mediocre and for a high price. I saw reviews saying “best on the island” which was super enticing but now I am just sad for your beautiful little island. Tacos were solid but nothing special. The family had chicken and cauliflower and mushroom. Lots of grease on the vegetarian options and the chicken had a cheese that was rlly low quality. Guacamole was 7 which I thought was awesome until it came in a tiny plastic ketchup looking side cup. You had to also pay for chips which to me is a crime against nature. Who orders 7 dollar guac and gets no chips. Most Mexican restaurants if you get guac it comes with chips. So that was severely disappointing. Comes out on plastic plates with plastic silverware which isn’t a problem but again adds to the low quality for high price nature of this place. I’m not sure if the imports are high here causing the 7 dollar meh tacos but bar taco has 4.50 street tacos 100% better anywhere in the south. Tried to do a casual night and still ended up paying for 150 + dollars while sitting at a paint chipped table next to the trash can in the back. Overall disappointing and we left still hungry and I kid you not our family is not one that eats a ton. So therefore sadly I must rate this place a two. Had high hopes but did not leave satisfied.

A very short walk from our Edgartown hotel. Lots of gluten free options. Tacos were fresh and delicious. Also reasonably priced for MV. I order them with the cilantro and hot sauce. Be careful as the hot sauce is HOT! Liked it so much we returned the next night.

Service was super slow. Prices were high. Food quality was medium, taste was good on the tacos, but the $16 nachos were terrible.
