Food was ok, service was terrible! Compared to all the other wonderful restaurants in Edgartown (Alchemy, L'Etoile, The Terrace at the Charlotte Inn, Dunes, Bettini) this would not be at the top of my list. Martinis have a bunch of up charges, adding about $6 to the basic price. Tables seated after us were provided with bread and drinks long before we got ours. I actually had to get up and talk with our maitre d' to get attention. Dirty plates were left on our table, even though waiters and servers were passing by. No one ever, during the entire meal, checked in with us to see how we were doing. The scallop appetizer was good, but small. The steak was well cooked, but had a lot of gristle. We probably won't be back.

VERY attentive service, delicious food, and inviting atmosphere. We went in early September (sort of nearing the off season) but the kitchen was still bringing their A game. We loved their porch and how central it was to good shopping. Would recommend the grilled salmon and the NY strip.

Disappointing dinner. Had the Spinach salad with blueberries, strawberries and sunflower seeds except it came without strawberries and sunflower seeds. Then the short ribs. Salty and the Spinach with garlic had no garlic. And the polenta had no hint of Parmesan cheese. The wait service was great.

I visit Martha’s Vineyard regularly and Chesca’s is always at the top of my list of restaurants to visit. I’ve even celebrated birthdays here and looked forward to another excellent dinning experience this evening. This meal, however, did not live up to my expectations. The appetizer and entree were lukewarm. The salad lacked a key ingredient and the dessert, a slice of key lime pie, was the greatest disappointment of all. It had a gooey, consistency with an almost nonexistent crust. It too was missing a key ingredient: key lime juice! I’m chalking it all up to an off night in the kitchen and will plan a do over next summer.

Such a great dinner place. Intimate and romantic vibes - we went as a family and loved it. We loved our waiter and his recommendations. Great food! They have gluten free pasta. Wine was amazing as well. Would definitely go back!

Delicious comfort Italian. We loved the chicken Marsala, eggplant parm, local greens, and chocolate pot du crème. Very grateful for the warm rolls and high quality butter as well.

We came to Chescas for dinner after not having been for a couple years and expecting the same great service, atmosphere and food. We were incredibly disappointed—where the food was good, the service was terrible! Absolutely no urgency, experience or knowledge when it came to the menu. We waited a very long time for our drinks and to order food. We were never offered dessert and were told they had no coffee or tea. Our server had no knowledge on liquor and had to get the manager several times to help. Over all, we were disappointed and probably won’t return! Unfortunate because we are locals. There are far better restaurants across the island!

Delicious meal and excellent service. We got the cod , the halibut and the tuna entree. My boyfriends white bean soup looked great with lots of veggies. My arugula caprese was tasty and the tomatoes were red and sweet. The fish entrees were all enjoyable. Please carry a Non Alcoholic Beer ? for those of us that don’t drink alcohol. Non drinkers want options besides juice and soda.

Good food, great bartender. Nice old-school charm. Still trying to figure out my favorite dish. Clams with angel hair pasta adds chunks of sea clams, a little strange but nicely flavored. Very good marinara.

At exactly 5:30 the doors opened for dinner to a waiting crowd. All guests with reservations were seated first, while all others had to wait to see if there v would be space. I love placed that have reservations as the patron then knows there will be no wait. We were seated quickly, greeted by the waiter promptly and served in no time. The food (steak and salmon) was well plated and pleasing to our taste. The ambiance was a tad dim and the table setting slightly soiled, hence the 4:5 rating. Well done!

Went in the off-season. Pleasant experience. Gorgonzola dip is a must! Bit pricey 180.00 a couple before tip. But everyone was happy
