Square Rigger Restaurant

We love the Square Rigger! One of the highlights is being able to see the chef in action—such a unique experience! He was not only incredibly talented but also very friendly and welcoming, which added a personal touch to the evening.

We ordered two pasta dishes, and both were absolutely phenomenal—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. You could tell a lot of care and skill went into every detail. The drinks were just as impressive—well-crafted and refreshing, pairing great with our meals.

We’ll definitely be coming back! Highly recommend!

kind & accommodating + great food!

Sometimes you just want very fresh food, simply prepared, friendly service and — a rarity in Edgartown—easy parking. And did I mention, very generous and delicious cocktails? If so, the Square Rigger may fit the bill. At the waiter’s suggestion, I had the crispy salmon, well prepared, nearly enough for two. My husband had the seafood scampi which was again very fresh and tasty. And my caipirinha was huge (at least a double) and excellent. Pair it with genuinely friendly service, and you’ve had an enjoyable, tummy-satisfying night out.

My family and I went to the vineyard for the first time. In our first night we went to Square Rigger restaurant. They were busy so they put us in a back room that had 2 other tables filled with guests. We arrived at the restaurant around 7pm. The waitress came and took our orders. The owner came in and chatted with my husband in Portuguese and was very friendly and he assured us we would be getting our appetizers soon. About an hour later a waitress came in and said the prior waitress forgot to submit our order and she assured us she would put it in. They kept saying how busy the restaurant was, but I reminded her that we are paying customers too.
We finally got our appetizers around 8:30 pm. It was good, but we waited such a long time to get it. About 45 minutes later our entrees came. Since we were not happy for the wait, the waitress offered to remove the cost of the appetizers. In all we waited approximately 2 1/2 hours to be served food, which is ridiculous! On top of that I was given the wrong vegetable with my salmon and my hot salmon was set on top of lukewarm mashed potatoes. It was also supposed to come with asparagus , but it was served with broccoli and carrots. I reminded the waitress that the menu said asparagus and she told me it was supposed to be broccoli and carrots. Then she went out of the room and slammed the door shut behind her. It felt like she was taking her anger out on us because I complained about the incorrect vegetables . The door to the dining area we were in was previously open so I got up and opened the door as a closed door would have given them more reason to forget about us completely. She came back about 10 minutes later with blanched asparagus. They were big and swollen looking and very unappetizing looking.
We were very dissatisfied with this service and let them know. We weren’t rude or anything, but was hoping for a better outcome. Then a different waiter came in looking angry and asked what we wanted them to do. So he had an attitude but we were being mistreated!! I reminded him that a different waitress was going to remove the cost of the appetizer, but no one seemed to remember that. Finally another waitress came in and remembered what she said.
The real insult was after all of that awful treatment, they had the nerve to tack on an 18% gratuity to the bill. We were a party of 4, not a large group! We paid it, but the food and service was not worth that! As we left they were standing in a line to thank us for coming. What a horrendous experience!

The clam chowder was really good and the steak was also amazing. Definitely recommend getting those. The lobster roll was fishy. We are outside however it got dark out and there was no lighting. Also the wood tables seats are very rocky and need to be replaced. Overall I think there are better options nearby but if you do go, definitely recommend the steak and clam chowder.

I don't leave reviews often but I must say the swordfish is beyond exquisite. The chef made it with such a beautiful outer crust / sear just so flaky and the inside melted in my mouth and was just so perfectly moist my eyes closed and rolled with delete. It is a must to try. We also had a love calamari appetizer and ceasar salad and they provided a special side for me. A nice dry chardonnay accompanied my meal. .You will enjoy this.;). Thank you Square Rigger for a memory that will keep me smiling for a while

Just had a delicious dinner, if you have never been or haven't visited in a while, you should definitely stop in!!!

The food was awesome! Great flavors and wonderful portions! My wife had the salmon, I had the paella. Both were absolutely delicious, and the staff was extremely pleasant and fun to be with! We are VINEYARDERS and found our new go to restaurant!

My wife and I went back one week later and were not disappointed!! Consistent excellence!!! Natalia, our waitress, was super attentive. Kamila made awesome drinks and introduced us to a delicious dessert ( a peach mousse, made from the chef's mom's recipe), and the chef, Everton, made an awesome paella for us both. The staff are warm, personable, and fun to be with.Very homey and family oriented with a Brazilian flare. The calamari appetizer was both delicious and plentiful, no skimping on the portion or the flavor!!!! This place is an Edgartown gem, and a much improved upgrade over the previous Square Rigger. We are so happy with our new place to enjoy a great meal, nice atmosphere, and fine people.

DELICIOUS food with large portions and amazing flavors! great drinks and the staff, Kamilla, Natalia and master chef Everton were so wonderful and personal! what a fantastic gem in edgartown! the paella was awesome and the calamari was excellent and the home made desserts were fabulous!

Amazing food !!! Best Espresso martini! Came with my boyfriend and my mother and brother we came for pasta night and got pasta comes with salad and bread , so good!!!! Really nice people!!! Love there Pasta nights on every Thursday! The lady with the red hair was so so nice and accommodating. Cant wait to see what other special nights they have !!!

Love coming here. The chef/owner is amazing and so sweet. We love coming here in the summer but the new winter menus is so good. Mussels, bolognese and salmon are must try’s!
