We have been visiting John Andrews for years and have never had a bad meal or experience. I can't believe it took me this long to post a review... This is our favorite restaurant and having recently moved closer, we have become weekly regulars. We love sitting at the bar and watching Nate make amazing cocktails or describe the wine options. Dan, works hard to accommodate everyone in the front of the house, while making sure that the food is spectacular -- ingredients and preparation. It's a great menu with a mix of meat, fish and vegetarian/vegan options. The menu changes regularly, taking advantage of the many farms in the region while also keeping some stalwarts. Great wine list and very professional staff who work hard to make everyone feel cared for. We feel at ease and happy as soon as we walk in the door and fortunate that we can enjoy fine dining in a comfortable and friendly environment. The fireplace in the winter and outdoor dining in the summer make it a perfect spot for all seasons. Reservations are necessary especially during the area's busy times.

Cozy, rustic, and charming establishment. We had dinner there on New Years Eve. My boyfriend and I ordered the grilled pork chop, which was made with a citrus and molasses glaze. It was served with broccoli raabe and sweet potato puree. It was one of the best meals of my life. He loved it as well and made it a point to compliment the chef. It was the perfect dinner for a special occasion. It had the rustic farmhouse feel, with the fireplace going and beautiful old weathered wood floors. The service was excellent as well. I would HIGHLY recommend dining there.

This is truly an old farmhouse that they've turned into an excellent restaurant. We had all sorts of different meals there for the party of eight that we were, and every one of them was delicious. It was great appetizers and a great farmhouse like atmosphere. Eat here and you will enjoy it for sure it's great place to spend the evening with friends. But I think you probably better make some reservations if you want to get in.

Good restaurant with dishes that vary in quality. Appetizers were very good (Spanish octopus was delicious). Entrees were average (fluke was bland andpork meatloaf was ordinary). Desserts were great (almond cake and plum sorbet).Service was friendly and professional.Glad we tried it but wouldn’t go back.

The food here is good & consistent and the ambiance is nice. Fried Oyster Salad ($15), and P.E.I. mussels ($15) are both very good. Rainbow trout ($30) is always good as well as the red snapper ($34). Chocolate Torte ($10), and Lemon Ricotta Cake ($10) are both pretty good. Our server, Isabelle was very good.

Never think twice about recommending this restaurant. We just happened by a few years ago and Chef was standing in the doorway surveying his vast view. We though it looked like the perfect place to try and he could not have been nicer to us. We went to the hostess only to find they were completely booked and he instructed her to seat us. Everything was perfect. The staff was well trained, service was great, atmosphere rustic and the food was outstanding. I have recommended this restaurant to friends and relatives and everyone felt the same way we did. A definite top choice.

We were attracted by the great online reviews and decided to give this place a try. The restaurant is located in a very cute area surrounded by trees and flowers. We got the fried mushroom and gnocchi as first course, which were nice. I got the trout as main dish, which unfortunately was over-seasoned, unnecessarily elaborate, and turned out way too salty. The duck breast was not bad. The cocktails were ok, not fancy but decent. The only thing bothering us was our server. Don’t get me wrong, the waiter was not rude, just having the “I don’t want to work and don’t care” attitude, which was a bit disappointing.

This was a world-class dining experience. Imaginative and yet familiar flavor combinations, perfection in culinary execution and presentation. Skilled and friendly wait staff. Amazing wine list. Beautiful farmhouse setting in a pastoral location.I can’t think of anything they ought to improve.

Great dinner tonight, food was very good and so was the service, for a very pleasant dinner experience. Bar tender was also very friendly and helpful.

I can think of no bigger compliment to offer a restaurant than the following: We've driven past John Andrews dozens of times, every time saying "we really need to try that place one of these days." We finally made dinner reservations for my birthday (July 14), and we enjoyed ourselves so much that we made another reservation for July 16 with plans to order items we didn't on our first trip. So, what did we eat on our first trip that made our visit so amazing? I ordered the octopus app and the saffron risotto for my main course; the octopus was outstanding, so was the risotto - very tasty with large chunks of shrimp; my only (minor) complaint was the risotto was a little al dente, but that was OK. My husband had the calamari app and lamb chops for his main course - calamari was very good, but the lamb chops were outstanding. We both ordered dessert - I had the lemon ricotta cake (very good, though a bit dry) and hubby ordered something with caramel, which he loved. We sat inside, next to a large sliding glass door that afforded us a clear view of the beautiful gardens, which are worth the trip on their own merits. The decor inside is rural funky chic - very classy and artistic, but casual and welcoming. We were the first to arrive when the restaurant opened, and by the time we left the place was filled up - on a Thursday. I do wish the restaurant had acknowledged my birthday, which was indicated on our reservation, but that's OK. We left feeling extremely satisifed. On July 16, we returned for our second meal and were again not disappointed. I ordered the fried oyster salad app, sweet corn chowder with bacon, and shrimp tacos for my main course - everything was outstanding, and well worth the two-day wait since my birthday (I had wanted to order this but went with something else instead). Only minor quibble was that the tacos came out flat on a plate instead of being propped up, and due to all the different juices from the toppings (which were very flavorful) they became a bit soggy - but so delicious. My husband again ordered the calamari app (better than last visit) but this time he tried the pork loin, which he loved. He wanted to order the salmon but did not like the accompanying sides, but when he asked if he could substitute sides he was promptly told no by the waiter - alrighty then. Not a problem, because the pork was delicious. Ironically, someone at the table next to us was celebrating a birthday, as noted by the waiter who wished her a happy birthday once they were seated. When I leaned over to also wish her a happy birthday, she told me her birthday was actually July 14 (same as mine) and this was her first trip here (same as me, on my birthday). I thought that was a lovely twist of fate, and it cemented this place in our minds as one of our new dining destinations - and we live in NY about 30 minutes away! So, two visits in two days, and both were worth the trip. We will definitely be back, and we will definitely bring others with us next time. Thank you.

Fantastic taste. I eat out 200 times a year and know that this spot is special. We had duck liver pate, duck wings, lamb chops, and homemade pasta and mushrooms. Everything was excellent. The octopus was the big surprise, perfectly cooked and tender!

We came with a party of 4 and had a wonderful dinner. Sitting inside was great and the food was amazing for the price. We would absolutely come back here again and would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting!

Great food, the duck was amazing as well as the Calamari! Drinks are strange but fun. The lamb was pretty good. Overall, great experience.
