i should've written long time ago, it was last year? or so i tried this bakery .i was curious about " sweet bread " because i see it everywhere. apparently it is portuguese bread so no wonder its popular.i just wanted to have a taste but it sell as a package of 6 , so i decided to try a bakery shop. As i entered there was a lady behind the counter. i asked her if they sell it individually, she replied no, so i mentioned i have never tried it but i was curious. She offered me to try one from the bag, so i asked how much, she said i will be back, so it's okay for this time . i thanked her and left. the bread was soft and sweet it reminded me of the bread i grew up with. i just thought this bakery need a supporter since they have little reviews so i am writing how precious experience i had with this little bakery. i should be back to try again when i am back in the area.

Forget the other tourist trap. If you want to go where the locals go, get your cannoli on at Modern. Great assortment of baked goods, but always a fan of their cannolis. Great service, a few tables to enjoy your purchases over a cup of java. Perfect for an after dinner treat or bring home.

Dear Modern Bakery, Hello Again! It's taken six years, but I've come across the country to have another lobster tail. I couldn't get you off my mind all these years. And I was not disappointed. The cream in the pastry defies description, other than it is the stuff of dreams-- and the crisp shell provides the perfect texture to that angelic filling. The peanut torrone that we added as an afterthought was arguably the best after thought I've ever had. I just wanted to thank you for all the time and effort that went into those confections. Thank you so much!

If you are willing to wait in line for twenty minute and have the staff keep overlooking you and dont bother to even acknowledge you ...yes this is the place to go to .Its no wonder the TIP jar seemed empty .This is not what i had expected from a bakery that prides itself on being family owned and caring !If you are looking for a good experience stay AWAY .Since the service experience ( or lack of it ) was terrible i have to rate the food and decor bad as overall the experience left a bad taste .

I love this bakery! I've been coming here since they day they opened a few years ago. Every time I'm in town for work, I always make a stop and buy some sweet bread and usually some of their little custards, and they're without fail the most delicious that I've tasted anywhere. The price is extremely reasonable. Today, for example, I left with ten custard tarts and a huge loaf of sweetbread for approx $8.00!! Back home, near Boston, any bakery would be 3x that price. The owner works the counter and she's very nice and will go out of her way to make you a happy customer. The bakery makes great Portuguese sandwiches and coffees/cappuccino's also. It's a tiny little place, but certainly a hidden gem!
