We had a vegetarian enchilada, a barbecue chicken enchilada, and a salad from the self serve salad bar. The food was fresh and tasty. The cook and counter staff were friendly and helpful. Good meal at a reasonable price for a tourist area.

Great for a conference center cafeteria

Nice variety of food. For breakfast there is yogurt, fruit, hot foods, waffles and omelette. For lunch and dinner there is are sandwiches, hot food, salad, and a second hot food selection and dessert. For the hot food rotation, some days are better than others but overall food is good. Buffet style means you will be well fed.

As far as cafeterias go, this place is pretty damn good! Their best items are the tuna (tuna sandwiches), clam chowder and the cookies! The tuna is from local fisherman and I believe the clams in the chowder are as well. During the summer the buffet is open upstairs and it has a LOT of different foods. There is a nice sized salad bar, a good selection of fruit, a sandwich station (try the tuna!!) the "meals of the day" (such as spaghetti, meatloaf, steak, etc), a pasta station (they will cook whatever pasta you want as you wait), a drink station, soups (usually 2, except Friday when it's clam chowder ), a dessert station AND an ice cream station (with sprinkles!!). I'm not sure if the buffet is open year round, but if you're really hungry or have teenage boys who will run up a bill anywhere else nearby, try the buffet!

Came to MBL for a meeting and ate at Cafe Swope. Contrary to what I had heard about the food there and though the fruit looked like it had seen better days, the food wasn't horrible and I rather enjoyed it. However, I can definitely see how it could get old if I had to eat there on a regular basis. The view of the water from the seating area is lovely.
