The Gill Tavern (no relation...haha), is a hidden gem of western Massachusetts! Great quality food and prepared to perfection!! Staff was super friendly and helpful!! Highly recommend !!

I'm not a bot and I know 5 stars is a little sus, but hear me out. Walker (and his team) have created a place out of a space. An old store with the requisite creaking floors that honors its own humble beginnings. I wouldn't say that the food has flair, it has honesty. I come here because I like the feel and I like the food, but I return here over and over because it is a total experience. I smell the kitchen and the history and the mixture of all of it before I taste anything. Sometimes the sound and smells and cheer become the perfect sauce to highlight the flavors.

I've eaten at the Gill Tavern three times and each has been a successively worse experience. The last time will be the last. We waited an hour and fifteen minutes (from ordering) for the food. During that time the waiter did not check in with us or let us know what was going on. When we finally flagged him down, he said they were plating--but it was another fifteen minutes. The food was just awful, like couldn't eat it awful, and we were hungry! What was really astonishing is there was something significantly wrong with every dish--the steak was charred, potatoes were simply missing (but just from one of three identical dishes!), fish was oily, full of bones, cole slaw was inedible, chicken was dry and chewy--the list goes on. Everything was either over- or under-seasoned. We are honestly not hard to please people and were looking forward to a nice night out with friends. On the plus side, we got to speculate for ages on the drive home about what might have happened. Chef got COVID and a couple enterprising raccoons offered to step in? We may never know. No hard feelings--they comped our meal and we had a nice, if hungry, conversation while we were waiting. But we won't be back, sadly, because I grew up in Gill and I want to support local businesses if possible.

Hidden gem. Had an amazing meal here with family — accommodating with dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegetarian) in spite of several items on the menu being out of stock. Our server was very attentive and made sure my party was well informed while making our selections.
We love this place for special occasions and date nights. Great atmosphere in the main dining room just feet from the open kitchen and the menu never disappoints. Our servers have always been great and friendly. Highly recommend (though we’d like to keep it a secret!!) 😊

Walked in at 4:50 p.m. We did not have a reservation. Asked for a table for two. There were tons of open tables. The hostess refused to seat us saying they were all full with reservations. I could clearly see the reservations were marked for 6:30 p.m. They couldn't accept a walk in with over a hour and half before reservations? We left and won't be back.

Everything is perfect here! I love the Chef he’s an absolute pro at his job. Also the service is amazing as well, great people overall. Everyone is also so kind. I just love this place, definitely my favorite restaurant ever!
