Wow...very surprised to go to Square Cafe in Hanover and find out it may be even better than Square Care in Hingham. Food was delicious, service was excellent and ambiance was cozy. The place was packed on a weeknight and it's easy to see why. This will be a "go to" place for us in the future.

We have been to Square Cafe in Hanover several times. Every meal we have had has been wonderful. We were there this past Saturday night with six people and again the food was perfect from apps to dessert. My complaint is with a particular server. We have had her wait on us several times and I always feel as if she is curt and unfriendly, as if we are a bother. I wanted to suggest that she smile sometime (wouldn't do that of course). A definite attitude that made us all uncomfortable. The food, atmosphere, hostess and other staff that cleared the table were all amazing.

We've enjoyed many excellent meals at Square Cafe in Hanover. Staff has been attentive but not overbearing, food has been excellent, and drinks have been spot on.I've made reservations almost every time and I'm glad that I did. I remember not making reservations one night in early November...a weeknight early in the week. I was surprised to see the restaurant pretty packed with diners and a bar full of people enjoying drinks and food. I was surprised and very happy to be seated promptly at a nice table. I'm sure it was pure luck. Message: make a reservation...they'll take them for 2 which is nice.I have several favorites...look for something you'd like and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. An Autumn Bisque has been available during our most recent visits...it is excellent. Perfect for a winter night.Enjoy!

Went here for lunch on Friday around 2:00. It wasn't crowded - a nice little place. The food was excellent! We both enjoyed our entrees.The problem was the waiter. He showed after we got our drinks, then took our order (we had to call him over). Got our meals..however, our waiter never came by to see if we liked it. Well, OK.We needed our server to refill our iced tea. We had to ask someone to summon him to our table. When we thought he was coming, he walked by, and I said "excuse me". He helped someone else and then stopped by and said "did you need something?". He then disappeared, we asked someone to have him come over. I just wanted the check so we could leave. Not sure what the problem was. It was a painful experience. Too bad, because I'm usually an excellent tipper. Not for bad service, though.I would think twice about going here again, or ask for another server.
Great food! The atmosphere was fun and the staff was very friendly. The owner/ manager stopped by to check on us multiple times. The dessert and after drinks hit the spot!

First, the bad - the hostess was anything but cordial and their cocktails are pre-made, they pour them from a jug which is just lazy. Other than that the atmosphere and food were solid.

The Square Cafe is our go to restaurant. The food is fabulous. The combination of flavors in the curry halibut plate is stunning. The calamari is my favorite anywhere. The steaks are great. I haven't had anything on the menu I didn't like. We love that they opened the 2nd location in Hanover as it is so much closer, bigger, and less noisy. Definitely a restaurant you should make your regular.

I always want to like the Square Cafe but am always disappointed. The food is good. Not great. The service is very good. What desperately needs to change is the menu. I've worked my way through it - yes you may have out of season asparagus with your chicken under a brick but it's the same chicken under a brick that's been on the menu for 10 years. Looking forward to an update!
