Always a delight: the food, the service, the overall experience. Looking forward to our next visit.
We visited on Xmas eve so we didn't expect a lot. However the food was oddly under seasoned particularly the steak tartare. I had the bouillabaisse which was good but I had to ask for a spoon and a plate for the seafood shells. The service was stretched pretty thin but it was a holiday and they were open so we were happy for that.
Always enjoy the food here - and prefer sitting in the tavern or bar area for better 'pub ambiance'. The bouillabaisse was outstanding, the squash arugula salad was a nice change for the season, and the yeasty/crusty bread was delish!! Old-fashioned was very tasty (according to my sister), and my pinot noir was very good. Service is always great off-season (and was great last night), but at the height of summer they seem to struggle to find enough/trained staff. Will be back again (I hope) before leaving the Cape for winter...
Excellent service start to finish. Varied, delicious menu options. Pricey beers and red wines by the glass (cabs). Really need better insulation in bar/dining area for winter months.
This was the perfect spot for thr Friday after Thanksgiving. They were so welcoming and attentive. The food was delicious, especially the homemade blackberry ice cream and the homemade tiramisu! A very warm and charming venue!
We had a table of 8 and a table of 6. Service was spot on, as was the food! Great experience. We'll be back. That burger looked amazing!
Mooncussers was my surprise meal of the trip. The food was amazing, we were treated very special. The staff that cared for us made sure we had plenty of info for ordering the right dishes. Pretty sure there weren't wrong dishes. This is most likely a locals place but the food was amazing and felt like a local. The beef tartar was perfect and so was the Bouillaise. Also had the Peggytini which was perfect. Another go to in the Cape
Expensive put location is great
Overall, nice tavern vibe, cozy atmosphere although that night everyone was speaking very loud
We enjoy Mooncusser's because they have a varied menu which they're always changing up. We have also had exceptional service, which keeps us coming back.

My husband and I have been dining at Mooncussers for about 15 years and this is the first time we had some disappointment with the menu items we ordered. I had the "Beef Bourguignon" which as the menu described was made with short ribs rather than the more classical beef chuck. I was disappointed in that the meat was not as tender as one would expect from this slow braised dish and the braising liquid was not as rich in flavor as good bourguignon usually is. It was served over mashed potatoes which were overly soupy. My husband had the Steak Frites; he thought the steak was good and cooked as he ordered, abut the french fries were ordinary. For dessert we shared a pumpkin creme brulee; although I love both creme brulee and pumpkin flavors, we didn't think the combination was a huge success - there was little pumpkin flavor to it. Our service was very good until the dessert course, but became less attentive as the restaurant became a little busier; we had to wait quite a while for our check. In fairness we overheard a waiter say that it was the first night of the new fall menu and maybe it need a bit more perfecting. Overall, had this been our first visit, we probably wouldn't hurry back, but we know Mooncussers well and will come again, hoping to be very pleased as we usually have been.
We had a lovely surprise when we tried this restaurant. The food was perfectly cooked, the server was attentive and we had a very nice dinner. We'll be back and bring friends!
A cozy but somewhat sprawling old New England building. We sat in the rather rustic bar room, with low ceilings, lots of wood panelling, and a fireplace. Our server was excellent, very friendly, and really did a great job of taking care of our needs. The biggest surprise was the food. Since this is billed as a tavern, we expected something more akin to standard bar fare. Therefore the prices seemed a little steep, until we actually ate. The mussels as a starter were delicious and clearly very fresh, and we saved the broth for the entire meal, with plenty of bread to finish it off. The pork chop was outstanding and unique, and nowhere near being dry. The sea bass special was equally delicious. A bit crowded and noisy, but in a fun, hanging out in a bar sort of way. We looked in at the slightly more formal dining room, which also looked lovely. Overall, a great Cape Cod spot that exceeded expectations.
Phenomenal!!! We were a party of 7. Annie provided a small private dining room. Lisa provided fast, friendly, professional service. The kitchen provided a creative menu and meals enjoyed by all. And, Uncle Bob picked up the tab. We couldn't ask for more!!
Food was good! Our server did take a little long getting to us, and checking on us. But they were busy, definitely trying it again soon though!
