Our first dining experience at Heirloom. Perhaps one of the best in the Berkshires. Food, presentation, wine options are exceptional. Atmosphere relaxing. Love the open kitchen to invite guests into Heirloom’s “home”. Service very attentive with well trained staff. Owner visited our table to enhance a personalized experience. Fresh farm to table feel. Heirloom will be our go to place for Berkshire fine dining.

Some places just get it right. Heirloom Lodge is one of them.

Matt Straus originally of famed Heirloom Café in San Francisco has created something extraordinary here: food that celebrates local farms and young chefs, paired with the most insane wine list in the state (maybe the entire region). Jura, Rhône, Burgundy bottles from tiny, brilliant makers you rarely see outside Europe. Absolutely brilliant.

It’s soulful, smart, and deeply rooted in place. Heirloom Lodge isn’t just dinner — it’s a love letter to the Berkshires.

Absolutely worth the trip. Love sitting at the bar to watch the kitchen.

There are restaurants that serve good food, and then there are places like Heirloom Lodge. It’s the kind of place that makes you pause mid-meal and realize you’re witnessing something special. Run by Matt Straus, who many will know from Heirloom Café in San Francisco, this place feels like the natural evolution of everything he’s stood for: a deep respect for local ingredients, a genuine commitment to improving local food systems, and an obsession — a glorious obsession — with wine. Let’s start there, because the wine list is insane. Truly unlike anything else in Massachusetts — maybe anywhere in New England or dare I say NYC. It’s filled with these wildly interesting bottles from tiny, thoughtful producers across the Jura, Rhône, and Burgundy, each one chosen with the kind of attention that borders on spiritual. You could close your eyes, point at the list, and land on something unforgettable. And then there’s the food. Every dish feels connected to the land around it and is sourced locally, cooked with reverence, and plated with the kind of quiet confidence that only comes from a kitchen that knows what it’s doing. Straus has built a team that cares about what they do. He’s training young chefs, celebrating local growers, and building something lasting here in the Berkshires. Heirloom Lodge is more than a restaurant. It’s a reminder of what happens when someone truly loves what they do and brings that love home. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Heirloom Lodge is a very special addition to the restaurants in lower berkshire county. The atmosphere is rustic and elegant as you sit in the Inn built in the 19th century that has been gutted revealing the original timbers. A modern, totally open kitchen has been added to the back of the building and lives seamlessly beside the old.
The food is exquisite with some amazing staples appearing again on the menu like the steelhead trout and other new offerings appear with the change of seasons.
And then there's the wine selection. Matt, the owner who you will get to know as he makes his way around the guests, is all about the integrity of the food he serves and the wine he offers. My eyes have been opened to wines I've never tried before.
You won't have a better meal anywhere and you will walk away feeling like you've had an adventure. Only wish I could get married again to have my wedding on the property. Heirloom Lodge is a treat to indulge in many times!

Just enjoyed a wonderful meal here. The service was friendly and helpful and the food was stunning. I appreciate that the seasonal menu allows for sharing or ordering individually. Everything we ordered was delicious and the portions were very good. Will definitely be back.

This beautiful restaurant is a hidden gem. I went with 5 people on a Saturday night. It was vibrant, beautiful and delicious. The staff was helpful and efficiently. This is a lovely place. I highly recommend it.

The food was excellent as was the service and very interesting atmosphere. They took an old inn and opened it up to the roof rafters then added a modern open kitchen extension. Was very surprised when I walked in. Still only about a year and a half old and not in a town so people don’t know about it yet. Wait till they do

Service was excellent, ambiance good, food was fine.
I grew up working here when it was the Williamsville Inn. It’s changed quite a great deal and when I shared with staff that I had worked here for years and was here to take the changes, I was disappointed that it was not acknowledged by anyone around, Management or the chef. A place with so much heart and soul for so many years…. I was surprised no one came by to ask any questions or share respects.
Regardless, It’s a beautiful spot, open and airy. Ip

Went with my family last night and this is now my new favorite restaurant in the Berkshires. We come here in August for a month and this restaurant was never on our radar. Luckily a friend told us about it. The food was excellent, A. our server was the best, and the atmosphere was beautiful. It was not too loud so we were able to have a conversation without yelling. As a vegetarian I appreciated that there are a lot of options for me. My companions had the chicken and said that it was very moist and tender (melt in your mouth). I had the corn soup that was incredible, shockingly had no cream or sugar because it was both creamy and sweet. I loved the mushroom flatbread and the pluot salad. Everything was perfect.

Our dinner (my wife and I) was truly wonderful. Great gouda cheese and sweet corn soup for starters. Wonderful entrees with delicious produce. Topped with a truly extraordinary chocolate cake. All extremely well priced. Service was friendly and sincere. Don't miss it.

Holy cow... what a find. How did Chef Matt end up in Housatonic to build this beautiful creation? I asked him and he took me on a journey from east cost to west coast and back. Yes, everything I ate was extraordinary, from the trout to the dessert to some sort of carrot dish. The food was like art. But the lodge setting was also transformative and lent itself to relaxation and deep conversation with our group. The super open kitchen was mesmerizing. That sort of transparency is bold, and inspiring. We even watched them clean it at end of night because we couldn't take our eyes off the sparkling commercial equipment. And somehow the bottle of champaign the staff was drinking at the end of the night seemed very appropriate. What a great experience; definitely a destination dinner when visiting the Berkshires. - David & Avril from Cleveland

An amazing experience. Matt the owner/chef and his staff are just amazing. The salads especially with peaches, tuna, the flatiron steak, trout and most notably the wine list were all brilliant . Don’t miss this experience.
