Just moved to the Boston area and celebrated our anniversary here. The clam chowder was excellent NE, and the French Onion soup was classic. I had the baked oysters, which was a first for me and I'd return for them as well as the mussels! We had the special Sea Bass and the Seafood Risotto, both large portions and excellent! Their special Old Fashion was made the same way as my all time favorite of bourbon on the rocks with an orange slice or twist but made perfect muddled with sugar and cherries. The Old Fashioned and wine were huge free pours. Reservations are difficult to get, so plan early and let them respond with availability. The large private parking lot is not large enough!! Cars were overflowing to the side street! Will return for sure!

In 2022 we went to 1640 Hart House for a wedding. We were served prime rib as our main course. In my opinion, the prime rib was the best I ever had in the North Shore area. Sadly to say the 1640 Hart House no longer serves prime rib. This is a huge mistake, and should be added back to the menu. Fast forward to 2024. My wife and I went there for our wedding anniversary. I had the beef tenderloin, while my wife had lobster, shrimp and oysters over risotto. We also had French onion soup for our starter. The soup came in a huge crock, and it was extremely delicious. Our main course food was also delicious, and was served hot. Finally we had desert to top off our meal. The mixed drinks at the 1640 Hart House are large and tasty, with a good pour. I recommend going to this place, but would like to see the most delicious prime rib added back to the menu.

I was very disappointed. I called over a month in advance and asked to be seated in the main area, where music was playing and was told ok. When I got there, we were seated in another room downstairs. I've been going here for years. The food portion was small. I'm not a big woman either. The haddock portion was half of what it was last year. Our waitress was wonderful, though, and I appreciated her kindness.

This was our second visit in here, this time for a wedding, and it was excellent. The apps and main courses were delicious, the servers were incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere all around was top notch. We left the reception to check out the bar for a bit and it was a great crowd. We will be back.

Def has the vibe and great staff! Good drinks. The food was mid. Goat cheese arancini had no goat flavor and the sauce wasn’t pink. Was looking forward to buttermilk fried chicken but it was also misrepresented. Was like shake n bake. Yummy gravy though. Were told they could do buffalo tenders instead of wings but they ended up not. So opened the takeout and then off to Century House to get the tenders…
Great olde tyme atmosphere/vibe. Food is okay, but a little pricey.
