We placed our order at the counter with the intention of dining at one of the outside tables. We paid at the register but chose not to leave a tip there, as we preferred to leave a cash tip at the end of our meal. As someone who works as a barista myself, I understand the value of tipping and often prefer to receive cash tips over system tips.

However, shortly after we sat down, the cashier came out to us and said it would be the last time they serve us because we didn’t leave a tip at the register. I found this behavior to be unprofessional and quite inappropriate. It felt like they were demanding a tip before we had even been served, which I believe is unreasonable.

I was genuinely uncomfortable with the confrontation, especially as we had every intention of tipping after our dining experience. This kind of interaction left a negative impression and made the visit unpleasant. It’s disappointing when customer service lacks patience and courtesy, especially over something as discretionary and timing-sensitive as tipping.

I found the food pretty terrible. Might be fine for people who like a lot of meat.

I’m updating my review from 1 star to 3 only because I recognize how expensive it is to run a business and I always like to give 2nd chances (especially for food establishments) the food is delicious but expensive relatively speaking for the amount offered if compared to other mom and pop shops. I’ll update again with pictures of açaí bowls from other places so that you can see the difference.

After hearing hype from friends about this place, my husband and I decided to try it out today for a late breakfast. I got the omelette that was supposed to be made with homemade corned beef hash, American cheese and a side of white toast and home fries. The only thing edible were the home fries. The homemade corned beef hash was stringy and dried out and shoved into a dried out, overcooked omelette. It was also NOT corned beef hash as advertised - it was regular corned beef. There was hardly any cheese in it and it was impossible to swallow. My white bread was more stale than it was toasted and tasted like sourdough. I expected more - maybe they were having an off day…but for what we paid we could have gone to The Pancake House or Piatto Cafe and at least had good food and pleasant service.

Perfectly poached eggs but the hash had no potato in it so it was just corned beef. Well cooked but I prefer more traditional will be back

This was a great breakfast place . we had an excellent meal all cooked to perfection. Very friendly and accommodating staff and an owner who cares enough to come out and speak to his customers

Very busy place. Took an hour to get a sandwich, dine in. Five tables seated after us were served before us. The sandwich, while tasty (California Chicken Club), was a very small size for the price. Chips were a tiny, 50 cent bag, versus homemade.

We are visiting from England and have been to Heart and Soul three times in the past week. Why? Yes, the coffee is excellent and the food is very good, but it's the warmth and hospitality of the owner, Bud, that has impressed us most. We have lived and travelled in many places around the world but rarely have we experienced an owner with such a wonderful attitude and such a welcome. It feels like visiting a friend when we come to Heart and Soul....a place that embodies the name of the cafe and an owner who clearly knows what hospitality means.

Very nice place with a lot of potential.
Sadly, my wine glass had the last persons lipstick still on the glass. This is so common in many restaurants.
Great sausages but would have been so much better cooked for a few minutes more. Browned and crispy.
I gave 5 stars to server because he sincerely wanted to please.
I’d love to go back and hopefully there could be a little more attention to details.

Parking: Not sure.

As soon as you walk in, you’re surrounded by an explosion of colors , tie-dye tapestries on the walls, fun pictures, and plants hanging from every corner. Jarryd had exceptional service as we were there. He never missed a beat when it came to our orders and general conversation. But the best part? The whole place runs on good karma. The staff is as chill as can be, always smiling and ready to share

Fantastic food and even better service. The kind of local place where the owner comes around to say hello, you can tell the staff is happy and works hard, and the food is consistently great.
