This gem is well worth the stop. My wife and I stopped in on our long weekend getaway to New Hampshire. We both had the clam chowder and I had the fried clam platter with onion rings and my wife had the lobster roll. The clams and onion rings were fried to perfection. My wife said the lobster roll was amazing.

My Partner and I have a Christmas party every year since 2014 apart from 2 years of the pandemic. We order the majority of the food from Ipswich Clambake.Last party in 2019 was good not great, we wondered if it would good this but decided to keep it local give them the order for lobster rolls, bacon wrapped scallops, salads, clam chowder etc.First just ordeing it was an ordeal! Then when we went to pick it up they the order was not ready as the staff had not got the order which was ordered 3 weeks prior! The staff did do a good job getting it to gether but we had people waitng for an hour at our party for food! The owner gave my partner a lillylivered apology after the event, when he back with the containers. he would not have got one otherwise. No offer of a discount!! That was $1000 order!!!Never again

Ipswich Clambake offers consistent and *YEAR-ROUND* New England seafood classics. You can eat in or take to go (during the pandemic they adopted curbside pickup service - give them your order and card number by phone and they’ll come out to your car with your food). Their service and promptness is excellent whether eating in or taking out. And they’re open year round AND take credit card!! Who else can say that?Their clam chowder is great, as are all the fried seafood items (though I tend to order the shrimp most).

Shawn and I shared his last fried seafood meal before he goes back to USC…..Chowda & Clams, Scallops, house cut FF and Onion Rings! 10 out of 10, everything was off the chart! Service was outstanding and they cooked my French Fries crispy! Give the wife a break and the family a treat and go to Ipswich Clam Bake….it’s that good!Parking: Plenty of parkingWheelchair accessibility: 100%

Stopped here mid October with my wife and we were blown away by the quality of the food. The fish and chips is the best I’ve ever had. Was working in the area today and stopped again. Same experience epic food and friendly staff. I’m from Ohio so this was a new found treat in my travels.

Stopped here passing through Ipswich with my wife and we were blown away with the quality and quantity of food. Traveling for work I stopped again today. Same experience. The Fish and Chips is the best I've ever had. A must if you are in the area

Some of us absolutely loved the food and others didn't. Personally, I don't feel like the shrimp had much flavor at all. But my kid loved the clam and my husband loved his chicken. The owner/worker was amazingly sweet and we really appreciated that !!!

Great food and service! I prefer over the more historical restaurants in the area specialize in Seafood.

My wife and I just tried the food here. I had a great salmon sandwich, fries. Generous hot portions...my wife had haddock and chips... haddock was NOT greasy or too salty and portions were not skimped on...you probably can order one item and split it...next time I will try the chowder which I hear is very very good. Service was excellent. I like that it is husband and wife operated. Food came promptly and we were asked if we needed anything and if our food was ok. Nostalgic music made for nice ambience We'll be back!

Pretty okay. Food took like 25 minutes which was quite a while for two salads and two rolls. Ate outside and it was nice. The haddock was good, along with the clam and lobster. Chicken tenders are not good. Fries are great. The Clam Box up the street is definitely better but this place is okay for dinner. Kind of strange they close at 7 PM. It’s a mediocre food joint. Incredibly expensive.

NOT A DRIVE BY!Best lobster roll (& value) around!Fried foods are done to perfection.Husband & wife owners are seasoned restauranteurs and their experience shows. This restaurant has changed hands several times, with varying degrees of success. Great to see the food quality, prep & value back to the previous standards.

Somebody from Ipswich at a market thingie in Salem told us to come check out Ipswich and Crane Beach. and so we listened..lol. Glad we did. We were done with Salem and our next stop was Boston, but we decided to do a little detour. Cute little area. I would love to live here. Anyway, Ipswich Clambake. We pulled in and my husband was like no one is here, Krista? It's okay, let's just give it a try. It got busy after we arrived! Something light and cheap we wanted but ended up spending $100 on lobster roll, clam chowder, fish chowder, and fisherman's platter. I was able to get a small bite of lobster. Yum. The clam chowder was so good. The clam chowder that I imagined that it would be in New England. Pretty good. Didn't skimp on clam. Loved it. I remember liking the fish chowder, but I don't remember it to describe it. The fisherman's platter fed 3 of us, so the price of it was worth it. It came with shrimp, clams, scallops, and haddock. Seasoned well and was very fresh. Again, y'all know how to do scallops up here! Texas don't. Yummy scallops. They apparently also do asian dishes (the owner's wife is Cambodian) which I didn't know until looking at the website to get the name of the platter. One day, we will be back!!!

This little place is less than a mile from The Clambox but I think the food ( specifically my favorite fried clam strips) is better. It lacks the touristy gimmick of the building resembling a container of fried food and it's lacking a seaside view that other venues can boast. It's just a humble little storefront. It also lacks the long lines and longer wait of other seafood restaurants. It may be a spot known only to the locals for all I know!

I have been there a few times this summer. The lobster roll and the clam chowder are amazing. You don’t need to wait long. I’m glad I found this place. The staffs are friendly. Plus the bathroom is clean.
