Amazing place to stay. Has charm and history. The Carriage House suite was perfect for four of us, very spacious and comfortable. Great breakfast restaurant onsite that serves amazing food. The owners were great with instructions and I loved the self check-in where we got in around 8pm. Walking distance to downtown Ipswich and close to Shaw’s. The commuter rail to Salem and Boston was just a 10-15 minute walk from the Inn. We’ll definitely be staying again!

While the inn is currently under renovation, my friend and I stayed in the carriage house and it was lovely. Really comfortable beds and cozy atmosphere located in a quaint, quiet, and quintessential New England neighborhood. Just a short walk from Sandpiper Bakery, which was delicious. Can’t wait to come back and get the full inn experience!

I had the most loveliest stay here at the Ipswich bed & breakfast, I had travelled from the UK solo (I then met with a friend once i’d arrived) for my birthday and I am so glad I chose to stay here. The owners and staff are just amazing, very attentive and they were so kind and caring. On the morning of my birthday they even surprised me with a little muffin when I came down for breakfast which might I add was DELICIOUS every single day. The room was cute and cozy, the beds were very comfy too. The grounds surrounding the inn were picturesque, I genuinely felt like I was in a film with how autumnal and perfect it looked. I felt safe here at all times and around Ipswich itself which is really important when partly solo travelling, being 3000 miles away from home and as a female. I cannot recommend this place enough, I will 100% be back in the future and look forward to meeting the new owners.

Rooms: Room was perfect for myself and my friend, we were in the skylight room - had plenty of space for the both of us and was extremely clean.

Walkability: Easy to walk around the cute little town of Ipswich, but also a super quick and easy walk to get to the train station. We headed into Salem most days and Boston on 2 days - super easy to get around.

Food and drinks: The breakfast we had every morning was absolutely AMAZING (as you can see from the pictures) and tasted great. The waiting staff were just absolutely amazing and so unbelievably kind, caring and polite. I couldn’t fault any of this.

I stayed here in December with my wife. There are new owners who are planning some much needed renovations to make this a throughly charming New England B&B. We received notice in advance that the inn would be undergoing renovations and they would have accepted cancelations or offered a 10% discount for the inconvenience. We decided to keep our booking as it was close to family. The room was exactly as was pictured. not fancy, but clean and a good value for the price. We briefly met the new couple who purchased the property and they showed us all the things they are planning to do with the property. we are very excited to come back later this year when it is refreshed. In spite of the work that’s going on…I give this a solid 5 and know it will be even better once the renovations are complete!

Rooms: Current rooms have baths and are adequate though dates. We will definitely be back to see the updates to the rooms and bathrooms! The owners were kind enough to show us what they had in store and it should be beautiful with all rooms being updated and refreshed with new beds, TV’s and fun colors and decor

Nearby activities: It’s located in the historic district of a well preserved and quaint New England village. There were plenty of food options close by and some charming shops

Walkability: Our family lives in a nearby town so we had a car, but you don’t really need one if you plan to soak in the sites of the village.

Overall we had a disappointing one night stay at this inn. Once we arrived we found our room not quite ready for guests. There were no curtains in the room, two of the flimsy shades did not fully close and we had to roll up our coats to provide privacy. The bathroom sink was 3/4 plugged and drained very slowly. The shower head delivered lukewarm water at best. It was clear upon arrival the inn was undergoing renovation and rooms should not have been available, especially at the price we were charged.

It was a little sad that Margaret was not here but she has a well deserved retirement. We were fortunate to meet the new owners and they are a delightful young family with lots of energy! They were very apologetic because they've already started alot of renovations but we assured them that everything was fine. We are just happy, probably along with many others, that they are keeping this landmark going! Again, we really enjoyed our stay and meeting you. You have a great future ahead of you!

Stay: 10/20/2023 - 10/26/2023 Room: SwedishWish I could review the whole town. We really enjoyed our time in Ipswich; some of the nicest and friendliest people we have ever met.We arrived at the Inn around lunch time and asked for suggestions for lunch; we tried them all during our stay and loved them all. Oh, and the breakfast at the Inn is great; we are missing walking downstairs to a great breakfast every morning.Love the location of the Inn. Basically, overlooks the town and everything is within walking distance. The Choate Bridge Pub and Brown Dog Restaurant are an easy walk straight down the hill from the Inn; we tried them both and enjoyed them both. I believe the Brown Dog was our favorite; ate there three time during the week and met some very nice people there. Also, the Ipswich Ale Brewery is worth a visit with good food and beer. While in town, if you want to try something different, check out the 1634 Meadery. Very cool.We really enjoyed our visit and hope to return some day; hopefully bring the grandkids next time. You will not be disappointed with the Ipswich Inn Bed and Breakfast.

Carriage House gets 10 Thumbs Up!This place was GREAT! Very hard to find TWO beds in a charming New England Inn, but find it we did here at Ipswich Inn in the carriage house, which is a separate little building. We loved, loved, loved our room. Two SUPER COMFY beds, a spacious bathroom, big bath sheets (instead of just bath towels), great pillows, extra back pillows for reading in bed, sufficient lighting, an air conditioner, super roomy and spacious with a table, a little fridge and micro area, a sweet garden, a FABULOUS breakfast in the charming cozy dining room or out on the deck in the garden, bottles of water in the fridge upon arrival, magazines and books to read and . . . why don't ALL hotels do this? . . . a nightlight in the bathroom! Every little amenity and thoughtful touch you'd want. We can't speak to the charm of the rooms in the inn itself because we were staying in this little separate out building, which isn't full of antiques, but my sister and I just absolutely loved the room, the two beds, the privacy, the quiet and everything else I just mentioned. Highly recommend a stay in this carriage house if you need two beds and a little more room than a quaint antique New England Inn might usually provide.
