Let me start by saying we first checked out Gateway Tavern. It was the most unpleasant bar I have been in over the past 8years. The bartenders and the owners bedside manner are is awful. We left and went to Hayes Tavern, recommended by some friends. It was fantastic smiles, food and fun banter. Bartenders were on point and friendly they made the experience fun. By far better than Gateway Tavern.

Absolutely amazing one of my favorite places to go and Lawrence it's one of the oldest bars in Lawrence and I found it years ago and I love coming here and people are awesome food is absolutely amazing and they make me feel really awesome when I come here

What a pleasant surprise! Covid brought the addition of food, and it's here to stay. Scott (the cook) clearly cares about his plates, and the customers. Just about everything is made from scratch, and I have yet to be disappointed. Meatloaf that was his father's recipe, potato salad that was his mother's recipe, the list goes on. Anything can be modified, just ask. Now, let's talk about price... the ridiculously low prices... there is nothing even close to the value here. With the low cost, expect disposable plates and utensils, but who cares?! Come in for a drink, stay for a meal, and leave with some new friends.

At the moment you enter this restaurant the stuff gives you an enjoyable feeling. Very courteous hosts, it is a friendly place to pass time with your friends or with your date. yummy meals, qualified chief cook and stuff, honest pay and nice service. Warmly recommended.
