Saw the chronicle segment and knew we had to try! The service was great. The waitress made some excellent recommendations! Ceviche and a Sappora role for appetizers were great suggestions ( 4 of us dined) I had the Mar Y Tierra and the sauce was yummy. Fun drink options too!

Great experience at Japu. One of the friendliest staffs around and the food was fantastic as well. Highly recommend.

Unique combination of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine.
I ordered Sapporo roll ( grilled salmon, cream cheese, plantain wrapped with rice and seaweed deepfried) and the fried rice. Both are amazing. The grilled salmon in the roll tastes so rich and aromatic which is complimented by the cream cheese, plantain and the fried seaweed perfectly.

Pros & cons
I went on a day when there was only one table with 3 clients, got take out.
CONS: dirty menus, sign of poor hygiene , especially since it was down time. Sushi was ok, but not great. Rice was somewhat dry & sushi filling somewhat skimpy, contrary to VAKA restaurant. It also took them 35 minutes to make our order, even though there were only 3 other clients already being served. Pricy: more than 40dollars per person, and that's without drinks.
PROS: the causas was one of the best I've ever had in my life, and I have a lot of Peruvian friends that make it at home. Server was nice.

Relaxed ambiance, the lady serving that night was very nice and helpful. In the food part, it was cheap and delicious, things that together are becoming less common nowadays.

This place is awesome! I hope they never change their quality. The ceviche was spectacular, and the portion was decent. It's not cheap, but it's worth a try. I will definitely go back. I love peruvian food.... and fusioned with Japanese? Best of both worlds

A perfect spot for an exciting and flavorful lunch. The fusion of Japanese, Peruvian, and Dominican cuisine makes for a unique dining experience that is both creative and satisfying.

One dish that truly stood out was the Eby Maduro Tempura—an absolute must-try. The crispy tempura shrimp paired with sweet plantains created a perfect contrast of textures and flavors, making each bite a delightful surprise.

The lunch experience was elevated by Japu’s outstanding customer service. The staff was friendly and welcoming.

If you’re looking for a lunch spot that offers bold flavors, creative fusion dishes, and top-notch service, Japu is the place to go. A true treat for food lovers!

Not only five stars. Five shiny stars for this cozy gem. Food was bursting with flavor and the server was really friendly and attentive. The Ceviche was perfection and the chaufa was amazing and plentiful.

We also tried the chicha morada, it is super unique and worth the visit for it alone. Definitely putting this one on the repeat list.

A little pricy but still worth it. The shrimp empanadas were sooo good. Definitely recommend.
