It has very personal styling inside, authentic and affordable Mexican food, weekend specials, bookstore, bar upstairs, open mics, catering for events. The heart of Lawrence.

this restaurant/cafe/bookstore is a cultural hub in the city — the single most important place in Lawrence for so many in the community
Amazing place! Great food and caring people
Excellent place!
Love this place. It’s so great that they host movie nights and other events to educate and bring the community together in the spirit of a better, more just world for all. Can’t wait to go back!
One of the best spots in Lawrence. Folks there are friendly, the place has very warm vibes, and the food is incredible. 10/10
If I had any 'complaints', coffee machine was down for awhile, it's called 'cafe' and that implies a few things, have only been back for dinners, not sure if that's been fixed yet! but otherwise seriously it's essential Lawrence dining you gotta check it out.
Great food and better people! Antonio and Eric are amazing chefs who create a number of authentic Mexican dishes. Plus there is a wonderful selection of powerful books curated by Mary for sale. Worth making many visits!

Loved it! I can't wait to come here again and try more! So yummy!
What a great Mexican restaurant! My favorite dish is the chicken mole tamale ?, and my favorite drink is the banana coconut macchiato! I've been here three times now and the food, service, and drinks are all 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. The coffee ☕ drinks are AMAZING and they also have a great assortment of Jarritos Mexican sodas!
I visit this place yesterday around 11:30 for lunch. Now, I don't know if the host/server was having a bad day but the attitude and rudness was all over the place. It's sad because, I seen the reviews and was excited to try the food the food the place was nice etc. The service change my mind,
For example, he (the server) kept walking away from me when I was ordering, my grandma was part of a agespan program, that I was new to so I didnt know if she can grab take out or eat in, so I asked him and he's rolled his eyes at me and asked me the same question question back rude, if I want to sit or leave.
Finally, they had cookies for display in a jar I purchased 2 and when my uncle went to grabbed the cookies he snatched the jar with a attitude not saying a word!
At this point I wanted to leave but my grandma was hungry and we were taking her to all her appointments.
The customer service needs an upgrade, face life, now Evan though I felt like, slapping the jerk the servers neck and rolling his eye back to the front of his face so he can stay focus. I didn't want him To mess with my food so I just gave him tip instead.
The food was good little bit greasy, the cookies needed work.

Great atmosphere and even better food. Staff and owners are always extremely kind and inviting. Cozy book shop in the front with lots of very interesting and thought provoking material.
As far as Mexican food in the area, this place is unmatched.
