Food was not good at all. Lobster was dry and overcooked and the filet first came out overcooked, sent it back and it came out raw. Terrible food. Will not be going back.
We were there yesterday afternoon for lunch. The place was empty - maybe 3 to 4 people at the bar and maybe two tables occupied. I ordered steamers and whipped ricotta with fresh figs, prosciutto and bruschetta. I asked for the ricotta to be served as the appetizer and the steamers as my entrée. My husband ordered a half a dozen oysters, and expressed that he wasn't sure what he wanted for an entrée. Unfortunately, the steamers arrived first, they were lukewarm, as was the butter and lemon water that accompanied them. When the ricotta dish arrived moments later, the accompanying bruschetta was cold and stale, as if it had been toasted hours earlier. Finally, my husband received the oysters. Although the place was not the least bit busy, neither of the bartenders came by to ask how our food was, or to see if my husband was ready to order. By the time they got around to checking on us, it was after 3 PM. No longer the lunch hour, and we were ready to leave. It seems that with each recent visit the quality of the food and service decreases. I'll think twice before returning. Very, very disappointing.
Great take for Dine Out Boston lunch...Meal was fantastic, service superb (Samantha the best) Perfect afternoon.
The oysters were not shucked properly-all stuck to the shell. Even if it was National oyster day and you were selling a lot of them, you still have to entice people to come back for them when not on sale. The shrimp scampi was skimpy, not very flavorful and light on the pasta. Shrimp was cooked too much. A very small dish for too much money. I expected and have had better elsewhere for less.
Don't waste your time! Food was overcooked, dry and disgusting. Honestly go somewhere else!
Lobster rolls and clam chowder were delicious. Salads and drinks were great. Only disappointment was I ordered the lobster tail on top of my salad and it was tiny. Just a little over the size of a large shrimp.
Was not seated outdoors. Hostess read it and then proceeded to seat us indoors. Found out after this isn't a true legal seafood... they charge the same high prices but food was meh, server did not know anything about oysters and my dinner, a lover tail, crab cake and rice came out in three seperate bowls at three seperate times. It was Red Lobster quality at Legal prices.
We recently ate at this restaurant, and overall, it was a good experience. The waitstaff was polite, though our server seemed a little nervous—like he was trying too hard—but nothing that took away from the meal. The restaurant has that modern industrial look, which some people really like. The noise level was totally acceptable; we could talk without shouting. The food was the highlight: I had the stuffed haddock, and it was excellent—cooked perfectly and full of flavor. At $30, I thought the price was fair for the dish and the type of place this is. My wife had the haddock sandwich and said it had too much tartar sauce for her taste, but that's a personal preference. Parking was easy, and everyone we interacted with was friendly. The biggest letdown was the wine selection. It was limited, and the pricing felt excessive—$15 for a glass of wine that comes from a $12 bottle. I didn't order any myself, but I noticed other tables, and even the pours looked small for the price. That part definitely didn't feel like a good value. That said, I'd still go back, and I'd probably order the same dish again. It's not somewhere I'd go for a special occasion, but if you're out shopping and want a decent lunch or dinner, it's a solid option.
Underwhelming, they are not like they used to be at the locations we've visited (Lynnfield, Burlington & Chestnut Hill). Food was just okay, Fisherman Platter was missing the cole slaw (a different person from the server brings the food out) and there were all of two scallops on the plate. The cocktails were not good. I sent the first drink back (I've never done this!!) - was a 'special' blood orange cocktail that had almost no color and did not taste like blood orange at all, it was bitter. (I actually questioned if it was the right drink.) Ordered a watermelon margarita instead thinking that was a safe choice and that wasn't great. The server was SO lovely!!
Wonderful to have the perfect experience at Legal C. Our waiter, Gio, provided friendly, superb service, as always, and the food was fresh and delicious. Music is a bit loud, however, but it didn't ruin the great dinner.

I eat at Legal Cs frequently. This visit however was not one of the best. I had come this evening to enjoy a usually great meal with my family. I had redeemed my reward points for a lobster roll and had a $50 gift card to use towards my meal. My wife ordered the lobster roll, the lobster roll was all claw, no knuckle or tail meat. For $47 I would think the lobster roll would have been stellar, however this time it was not. For $20 less I could have gotten a better lobster roll at the 99 Restuarant. My oysters, shrimp scampi and seared sole were great. Our server was very good and attentive. Just prior to getting our check we were informed that the rewards and gift card system were down and could not be accessed. This was disappointing as I had a gift card and reward for a lobster roll. The server and staff should let customers know of this issue before ordering a meal so they know what to expect.
No catch of the day, cod from Iceland, no fish chowder, no smoked bluefish - what happened to Legal Seafood?
My aunt came in from California and she was dying for some east coast seafood and I remembered when I was a child my dad would buy fish and chips from legal seafood at the Inman Square location. We made reservations on open table and the service was great the food was fresh and my granddaughter loved the lobster Mac and cheese. Great service great food and the White Sangria was perfect for the season.
Our waiter, Nick, was pleasant, attentive, and fun to chat with. Food was average, busy atmosphere with heavy bar activity.
Great service, very nice covered outside space, and delicious blackened fish tacos for lunch.
