Best lobster roll and staff on the cape. A complete hidden gem.

Enjoyed a meal at the Raw Bar in the Popponesset Marketplace (259 Shore Drive, Mashpee) this evening. The Raw Bar was long our go-to place for their mega lobster rolls pre-Covid, but I hadn't been since 2019. I went early for the "buck a shuck" oysters (on Friday from 5-7) and had no problem finding a seat at the bar. Bartenders are attentive, engaging, and chatty . . . they are also very good at shucking oysters. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they have added a "mini monstah" lobster roll to their menu. It IS smaller than their outrageously large ("monstah") lobster rolls for which they are well known, but it's much more of a normal serving for one person. I ordered an adult beverage and a half dozen oysters. The oysters are from a consortium of oyster farmers in Cape Cod Bay and they were delicious--small, plump, sightly salty, with a clean mineral finish. So I ordered another half dozen. This was followed by another adult beverage and a cup of their clam chowder--slightly too thick for my preference, but certainly a tasty clam flavor. This was followed by a "mini monstah" lobster roll served on an untoasted/grilled New England hot dog roll. The lobster was delicious, lots of full clam meat and only the slightest hint of mayo; the untoasted/grilled roll was unremarkable. They have enclosed their outdoor patio with a large tent and installed heaters which significantly expands their off season seating space. I believe they will be open until the end of the month, so you still have time to grab some dollar oysters on Fridays before they close. For those interested in prices, the "mini monstah" lobster roll was $32 and the massive, monstah roll is $45. The "monstah" roll, which we've had many times over the years, easily satisfies the lobster craving for two people with conventional appetites, especially when combined with one of their additional offerings. I was surprised that there were not more people at the Raw Bar, but maybe that's because I was there early.

My husband was one of their first customers when they opened, 20 or more years ago; Returning to the bar brought back nostalgic memories. Obviously we ordered the famous (and very expensive) lobster sub and the famous clam chowder, which was a disappointment, as it was very thin. But hey, the important thing is that it is still there, although under different owners.

Tourist trap. Lobster rolls are big but roll is cold and dry. $40 for steamers?? wtf...no more than $20 any where else on the cape. Felt sick the next morning. Service was good. I won't be back.

Chill vibe in a fun area. Huge lobster rolls piled on with lobster meat. Ridiculously amazing mudslides - get the banana!! Busy place on a sunny Sunday afternoon but servers did a good job with refills and attentiveness.

Good food, small but very hard working staff. But $12 a glass for their IPA(Fiddlehead) on tap? I’m a Cape Cod full time resident, that’s 7-8 bucks anywhere else around here. Come on.

Huge lobster rolls but little flavor. To get our food took close to an hour. Soup alone took 25minutes to come out and the steamers were full of sand and grit. Our bill for 4 people with no alcohol was $285 with tip for average food and below average service.

Mashpee Raw Bar is a bit overrated. We got a lobster roll, oysters, cherrystones, shrimp, and drinks. Nothing to write home about. Service was slow. Beer and soda should be pretty quick and easy to get out but we waited way too long. Forced to sit next to the parking lot when other tables were available and would have been better if they were cleared quicker. Location is difficult to find. I would not recommend and would not go back to this place.

Fun atmosphere and great seafood. Outside seating under a canopy with plenty of room to move around.
