The food here seems a lot better these days. The smashburgers are yummy. The only downside is the food is drenched in some odorless oil and it's a bit expensive. These 2 burgers were $53 after tip, no drinks. If it was cheaper, bigger portions, or had less oil, I'd probably try to come out more often. But as it is it's a nice treat once in a blue moon.

We went there recently with a large group for a birthday. Two of us ordered the french dip. Neither of us got the sauteed onions on our sandwiches, though I'm the only one to communicate with the staff about it. They brought me a little bowl of it. I had asked for cheese dip with my fries and was told that would happen, yet again I didn't get it with my food. The french dip also wasn't very rare as stated. As for the french fries, they were average and not very crispy.

The food here is absolutely delicious, if a bit on the pricey side. If it were less expensive, I would go more often! But you get what you pay for: the quality of the food is much higher than you might expect and everything I have tried has exceeded my expectations. I don't love the ambiance of the inside of the restaurant - it's kinda dark and feels more like a bar - but the outside is lovely and the vibe is welcoming, inside or out.

Great place to come for a drink and bar food.
Outdoor seating available and much better than indoors…though indoor is not bad. Service good, drink selection good enough though not extensive.

My experience was not bad I had the buffalo chicken tenders and they were very good but , but I made the insane mistake of ordering truffle fries they made the room reek of rotten breath and they were next to my burger therefore making it impossible to consume, although they waitress was very nice and the food was not bad just Thoose fries killed us I can still taste them, it also took 30 minuets to get food with a appetizer. But if you go your self do not get the fries

We visited on Patriots Day, and it was an exceptional location and experience. The bartender effectively managed all aspects of the event, from hosting to bartending and serving tables, demonstrating exceptional competence throughout. Outstanding suggestions. I opted for the Smash burger with bacon, accompanied by their onion rings. This is undoubtedly one of the finest smash burgers I have experienced. I appreciate my BBQ sauce, and they provided me with Sweet Baby Ray's! Exceptional. The onion ring batter was exceptionally well-prepared, featuring a delightfully crispy texture with light, flaky layers throughout. My wife ordered the French dip, and the combination of the bread, meat, and melted cheese was exceptional. The Au Jus was also quite impressive, perfect for sipping! I appreciated every aspect of it. We relocated outdoors as the sun rose above the building in the morning, set down the umbrella, and enjoyed our freedoms. I would like to express my gratitude to the chef and the staff. This is certainly a new location for us.

Good food, decent selection, friendly, attentive, quick staff, quiet enough (not blasting music). Good drink selection but no decaf coffee.

A Homely Tribute to the Peasant Café of Maynard, Massachusetts
By one who dined there as if among kin and kindred

In the heart of Maynard—an old mill town that bears the softened traces of industrious toil—there exists a humble yet luminous establishment called the Peasant Café. It is a place whose very name bespeaks simplicity and quiet dignity, though within it one discovers not poverty, but an honest and abundant richness of spirit.

Upon crossing its threshold, I felt not as if I were entering a modern eatery, but as though I had stumbled into a hearth-lit chamber from some dim and nobler yesteryear. The aroma of fresh bread and roasted herbs mingled like the gentle murmur of ancestral voices, bidding the guest be at peace.

The fare is rustic, yes, but prepared with a reverence rare in these mechanized days. A bowl of lentil soup—earthy, unpretentious—could, in its warmth and flavor, humble the proudest cuisine of Boston’s gold-enameled restaurants. The coffee, strong as a sermon, stirs the soul with its robust candor, while pastries seem to arrive dusted with some benevolent magic.

But it is not solely the victuals that stir the spirit. The staff, gracious and unhurried, possess the gentle bearing of those who have chosen their vocation not for wealth, but for the communion it fosters. In their presence, one is not a patron but a familiar—a wayfarer whose arrival is both expected and welcome.

Thus, I commend this Café not merely for its offerings of sustenance, but for the rare balm it offers to the weary conscience. In a world bristling with haste and affectation, the Peasant Café stands as a testament to the redemptive power of sincerity, nourishment, and small-town grace. Were I a poet or prophet, I would say it is a place where the soul remembers itself.

The Chicken Cesar Wrap was prepared with meticulous attention to detail. It was accompanied by two slices of watermelon and homemade chips.
The dining area was immaculate, with soft ambient music playing in the background. A friendly waitress promptly received my lunch order. I arrived shortly after noon, before the establishment began to fill up with other patrons. I highly recommend visiting this establishment to savor delectable cuisine and enjoy a tranquil ambiance.

Fun place to eat - love that they have set up tables outside (with umbrellas so if some of your party need shade, no problem!). The staff was super nice & attentive, and the food was great. They’ve got some interesting menu options - not just the standard cafe menu.

What a great restaurant in Maynard center! Both outdoor & indoor seating (both low top booths & high top bar tables), great espresso martini, nice burger (with gluten-free bun) & tasty home-made tots, and really nice Caesar salad, with marinated grilled chicken. Food quality is surprisingly elevated, atmosphere is “friendly neighborhood gem”, fine for all ages.💕
