What a gem of a restaurant! My husband and I went last night for the first time last night and, not only was the food stellar, the service was also excellent. I love the light and airy design of the interior and the lively atmosphere, and, most importantly, I found the food and cocktails to be refreshingly unique, as well as surprisingly inspired.
My only suggestion would be to add a a few more vegan or vegetarian options. I’m fairly sure that even the guacamole had chicken stock in it (not certain, though).

Everything we've gotten here is delicious. The flan is especially good, so make sure to try that.

Great food, very friendly staff. Our waitress was attentive and very nice. The owner came to our table and was very personable and passionate about his restaurant. One of the best mexican restaurants around. Wonderful addition to the neighbor. I will definitely be a regular.

Incredibly tiny portions with no sides. This might be OK if they actually told you this and if the prices reflected this…but no. You will leave hungry. The food quality is fine, but this place is a total ripoff.

First time here and definitely won’t be the last. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, bright natural light, and clean space. Bartenders were friendly, made good recommendations, and provided fast service. The octopus and stuffed plantain was amazing 🔥

From the moment we walked into El Tacuba, we were blown away. The space is gorgeous—vibrant tile work, warm lighting, and a modern yet cozy vibe that makes you feel like you're on vacation in Mexico. The atmosphere alone is worth a visit.

But the real star here is the food. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and clearly made with care. We started with the tuna ceviche—so fresh and perfectly balanced with citrus and spice. The Pescado a la Veracruzana was hands-down one of the best seafood dishes I’ve had anywhere—moist, flaky fish with that savory, tangy tomato-caper sauce. And the suadero tacos? Unreal. Tender, rich, and packed with flavor.

The cocktails were equally amazing—try the hibiscus margarita if you go. You won’t regret it.

Service was flawless. Our server was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy talking us through the menu. We never felt rushed, and our water glasses never went empty.

El Tacuba hits every mark—delicious food, attentive service, and a fun, vibrant vibe. Already planning our next visit. A total gem in Medford Square!

Disappointing Service Would Not Return

We stopped by after a comedy show at the Chevalier Theatre, hoping for a good meal to end the night. The place looked nice, but the service was incredibly poor.

Our server (didn’t catch his name, but he had a tattoo on his right arm) was unprofessional and rude throughout the evening. He told us certain items were unavailable only after we ordered, and when my cousin asked which tacos he had chosen, the waiter replied that he didn’t remember then told my cousin that he should have remembered himself. Completely uncalled for.

We had ordered four plantain dishes with beef. The server later said they didn’t have enough but could serve one. My wife agreed to take just hers and cancel the rest but hers never arrived either. When I followed up, he casually said they were all out. No apology, no explanation, just a dismissive attitude.

The worst part? The tip was already included in the bill. It explained a lot about the service — he clearly didn’t care.

Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. None of us will be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this place based on our experience.

We came for the pulque because it is one of the only places in Boston that serves it. Unfortunately the day we visited they were out of pulque. But in the end the food was very good, the atmosphere very good, and the customer service very good. We will return one day not only for the pulque but for the restaurant.

Had a really lovely evening there. After a bit of negotiation, We were seated at a delightful locale.
The Mixologist was able to n/a modify one of their "signature cocktails" - Thank You, well done, and much appreciated.
Our Server was a most helpful guide to the nicely diversified menu. Really tasty.
Thank You.

Excellent food, highly recommend the arrachera tacos and the suivas. Guacamole and elote were pretty good apps. Service was pretty bad, not necessarily our server's fault but there were only two of them during a Sunday dinner rush of multiple parties. Will be returning though! hoping for quicker service next time.

I recently visited El Tacuba and tried the Taco de la Casa, and wow – it was amazing! The flavors were spot-on, and everything about it felt perfectly crafted. Although it's a bit pricey for a single taco, it's worth every penny. The staff was super friendly and attentive, making the experience even better, and the service was impressively quick and fresh. Highly recommend giving this place a try!
