I swear I heard about La Qchara here on Happy Cow but now can’t find the Beverly location! Cute corner spot with a handful of tables. Dozens of vegetarian friendly menu items that can easily be veganized. Got the vegetarian burrito with no cheese. Confirmed there was no dairy in the rest of the burrito. It came with a side of an avocado crema, could not track down the waitress to confirm if it was vegan so ended up swapping with someone at my table who had a side of guac. Wish there was more info or better labeled menu items!
La Qchara is such a gem in the area. The food is flavorful, reasonably priced and always hits the spot. I appreciate that they have a variety of breakfast options from pastries to chia pudding to larger dishes like chilaquiles. The tortas are a perfect lunch/dinner option.

I wanted to order one of the seasonal drinks, Santa's Chestnut. On the menu it has a price of 5. 25 or something. But when I'm about to order, for both hot or cold has additional charge of 3.75 something. So what exactly do you offer for 5.25? Just the ingredients by themselves????
I've visited La Qchara a few times over the years, but it has yet to give me a reason to return regularly. Today, I ordered two breakfast dishes, yucca fries, and two fresh juices. After a 4% kitchen fee and a 22% supported tip, the bill came to nearly $75—high for breakfast, especially given the quality of the food we received.
The biggest letdown is the consistent lack of seasoning. The eggs, arepa, and quinoa were all quite bland and served lukewarm. Even a touch more salt or seasoning would’ve made a noticeable difference. My dish also included fried plantains, but sadly, they were burnt. At $75 for breakfast, I expected more than bland, lukewarm food and burnt items.
As the only Latin-inspired restaurant in the area, it’s disappointing that the flavors don’t reflect the vibrant cuisine it represents. While the ambiance is nice and the service is fine, the meal felt like it was made without much care. Given the high price point, I don’t plan on returning anytime soon, as the value doesn’t match the quality.

As a longtime customer, I’ve always loved La QChara. Their food used to be fantastic, but lately, I’ve noticed a significant decline in quality, especially at breakfast. For example, my recent Venezuelian Eggs Benedict had microwaved eggs instead of the expected poached ones.
The portion sizes have also shrunk, and the flavors are lackluster. This is a real shame as I once considered this restaurant a gem in the neighborhood. It’s disheartening to see such a beloved place falling short of its former standards.

I don't believe the juices are 100% pure; they seem watered down. Considering how expensive they already are, plus the kitchen gratuity fee and the pre-set 22% tip on the screen, it's just too much.

I really want to like this place. The idea is nice but it misses the mark. I've had a few dishes now like the breakfast tacos, breakfast torta, and today i had the breakfast arepa.
The tortillas on the tacos felt like they were microwaved, the torta's bread was so soft I questioned whether they toasted it, and the arepa I had today was so bad I think I only took two bites because it was so undercooked and it caused the sandwhich to fall apart instantly.
I stayed for the atmosphere which is the best part. Good music, nice space and location, and a good crowd. The coffee is not bad either. If I come back it will be for those two things.
It is counter service but they still ask for a 20-22 percent tip which is crazy to me. Just pay your employees accordingly. There arent many latin coffee shops around here so I hope this place does better.

La Qchara has a big but coherent menu. My dish was disappointing - could have used seasoning. Order at the counter and choose a seat. Be prepared to wait.
Vegetarian options: Los of vegetarian options from which to choose.

So good I forgot to take photos! It can be a little loud inside when it gets busy here, but well worth it for the delicious meals available. Absolutely worth a visit. Or two. Or three. Or more!
