3/10/2024 ~We like to try different restaurants on our Sunday evenings to skip the crowds on a busier night like a Friday or Saturday. We were looking forward to trying some of desserts on the special menu we saw online prior to coming. We asked for to go boxes towards the end of our dinner and skipped dessert. The language from one of waitress in the waitress area was very off putting, loud and offensive, it made us want to leave. Sadly, we will not return.

After deciding to treat ourselves to dinner on Sunday, we chose The Charred Oak Tavern. They were on a wait. Plenty of open tables but on a wait ? We realized there seemed to only be a few employees. We waited, and when got to our table and proceed to wait at least 10 minutes with absolutely no service. We got up and left after no one was around to wait on us. Seemed to be severly understaffed. Pretty disappointing.

Chicken Sandwich was way too dry, although they did remove it from the tab.Cheeseburger was ordered without lettuce and tomato, it came with both.Food just wasn't what I expected. But that's just personal preferences.

First time coming here and can’t say for sure if we will be back. Service was wonderful and attentive. When walking in the bar area smelled very strongly of marijuana but it also could have been something else they had over there or a patron. Regardless the smell lingered and was off putting for most of the meal. The main reason for the visit was to try Lindsey’s famous seafood bisque. However, it was close but not quite the same as Lindsey’s. I didn’t get any lobster only scallops and shrimp. Some of the shrimp and scallops were darker brown and the sauce was darker brown as well compared to a light pink cherry wine sauce Lindsey’s use to have. Secondly, when the bill came we were over charged 4 dollars for the seafood bisque but the waitress promptly fixed it. The fried scallop plate was good but only 7 scallops for 26 dollars is kind of steep. The ribs were okay but very fatty. The mussels over pasta were good and had plenty of flavor in the broth. The pasta itself was plain and lacked flavor. The sticky toffee pudding on special for dessert was nice but rather sweet. Overall, the service was wonderful and the beers on tap were nice and cold. The food was lacking but not terrible. Might decide to try other places in the area.Parking: Plenty of parking in the back with a rear entrance to the tavern.

We came for dinner on a busy Saturday night. The place was bustling. Our waitress Alicia was lovely. Very friendly and attentive. The food took a while to come out, understandable on a busy night. We were disappointed when the Swordfish came out cold. Alicia checked in with us right away and took care it for us. We will return.

Wonderful service. Started with the Candied Bacon with butterscotch sauce that was so good. Braised short rib and Mac and Cheese did not disappoint. Can't wait to take my family.

I've been here twice now and the first time I had apps and a whiskey flights. The apps were amazing and the whiskey and knowledge of Ben the bartender were epic. The second time I came for dinner and it was a not great.Let me first say that the thing that made me come back was that they actually have vegan/vegetarian options which is hard to find in the area and I love that they tried. But the dinner was meh. I ordered the vegan chicken sandwich. The vegan roll was dry and crumbly. It came with one tomato slice, one leaf of lettuce and very small chicken patty that was dry and NO SAUCE. They have a selection of delicious sounding sauces, none of which come on the sandwich. The bourbon carrot side was just carrot slices with barely any sauce or flavor to them. Another person ordered the mac & cheese and it was also dry and without flavor.Bottom line: the apps and whiskey and cocktails were awesome. Dinner was a let down. Dry, lazy and flavorless.Vegetarian options: Awesome concept, terrible execution. It was a vegetarian menu done by people who probably don't eat vegetarian. Use sauces and spices! Vegetarians like flavor too.
