We live in Natick and love Buttercup. That's why we were disappointed with our most recent experience. We stopped by on our way home to have a drink at the bar. There was one or two open seats so we figured one of us would sit and eventually another seat would open up. Only we were stopped by the hostess who told us other people (standing near the host station) had been waiting for bar seats. We were confused because we didn't realize that you couldn't just stand near the bar and have a drink (since we had done this in the past) and also we didn't know that you could even reserve seats at the bar. A couple weeks later we were walking by again and saw that there were many open seats at the bar but my boyfriend and I looked at each other and said, let's skip it. We are still just not feeling great about our last experience.

Came to this restaurant on the advice of a friend. We ordered the charcuterie board for an appetizer.....all I can say is that it was a complete ripoff! Not worth $30! Next we ordered the fried chicken with green tomatoes which I was excited to see on a menu. The chicken and the tomatoes were completely tasteless, but that's not the worst part. Chicken was very tough and as I got down to the bone, it was blood red, which means the chicken was not fully cooked! Same thing with the second piece. I wound up getting very, very sick. If I could give Buttercup 0 stars I would . I highly DO NOT recommend eating here!

Very popular locally because the food is excellent, the atmosphere lovely, and the service friendly. It was packed on a Tuesday night, so reservations are recommended. The spicy coconut mussels were outstanding, everything else delicious. Our one caveat was that the fried chicken could have had a lighter coating, and the portion was enormous.

Long wait , even with reservations. Way too noisy to really enjoy dining. Menu seen on line was not at the restaurant that night. Waited at the table to be greeted by the waitress, then waited for our beverages. Glad we ordered both beverages and dinner at the same time. Should not have to do that with fine dining.

We had a great meal, as usual. We love buttercup. The service was excellent. The drinks were great. We all had one the other of the special items they were fantastic. Highly recommend you'll enjoy it.

I had the Maine mussels app which was exquisite. My wife had the beet salad that was also very good. However while bread service spreads were delicious, the bread was soft and tasteless (like Wonderbread but thicker slices). The sourdough bread that came with the mussels was also soft and lacked the tangyness of sourdough. The fish tacos and the shrimp risotto entrées were excellent.

This is the second time I've dined at Buttercup and I simply love it here. Great ambience, great food, good cocktails and very friendly staff. It's a perfect date-night place. Can't go wrong. I'll be back for sure.

We had a wonderful dinner at Buttercup. It was a small birthday celebration for my son. The staff was wonderful, the food was delicious and we overall had a great experience. Can't wait for the weather to get better and try out their outdoor patio, which looked really inviting.

Food is terrific here. Our server Elise was great. This is one of our top two restaurants in the area and its always consistently good. Gotta get some more reasonable wines on the wine list. One listed at $60 and the rest higher and much higher. Unless I guess you make more money selling by the glass but the wine list is the one issue I have with Buttercup. Should be more wines at a reasonable price. Overall the food was great.

My wife and I like to rey restaurants around the world and since we were in our hometown and she is a Michelin Star restaurant lover, even though this is still not yet a Michelin Star restaurant, the food, drinks and service was amazing. Overall the experience was excellent. In other note, our drinks were amazing. Our bartender and server Ariana is very professional and when we told her we are Tequila lover she suggested us to try the Tequila signature cocktail on the drink's menu and WOW…. I highly recommend it.

You know that famous restaurant scene in "When Harry Met Sally?" That was me. For real though trying to control the food moans and utter bliss I was experiencing from every bite I took. Perfection was sought through the artistic rendition of culinary creativity and gratefully achieved. Both of my parents are chefs, my brother went to the Culinary Institute of America. I've eaten at the best restaurants in Paris and had many memorable dishes in many countries. I can't say I've EVER had an ENTIRE MEAL that made me forget my troubles and lose myself in every bite I took. This restaurant MADE their own cocktail sauce. It was so delectable, that for the first time in my life, I put cocktail sauce on every oyster and relished the experience. I've had a lot of oysters in my life. The CORNBREAD! OMG. Oh God I swear I'm not exaggerating. I bit into a piece with a smear of the ricotta spread and lavender honey and continued to try to control the noises of utter joy coming out of my body. I was so happy I remember thinking the world could end then and there and I'd be ok with that. The cornbread was perfectly moist without being cakey and still tasted like cornbread. The beets were heavenly. A mix of different types of beets over a generous spread of well whipped ricotta. So refreshing and ecstasy generating with each bite. I ordered the Tiger Shrimp Risotto with Poisson Sauce and Chili Flakes. I'm getting a tingle down my spine recalling every bite of this dish. It came in a warm dish hot off the stove. It's very easy to screw up risotto and shrimp. They didn't. The shrimp were plump and juicy, the risotto was cooked just right and the SAUCE. Oh I had my reservations about ordering risotto with a sauce but it was heavenly. I was full halfway through but I didn't care I kept eating. There was also fresh spinach which I loved. Oh God I'd eat that dish every day for the rest of my life. We also had the short rib which was so tender. The service was phenomenal. Eat here. Now.

We had a great date night at Buttercup! They provide excellent food and service outside. We got the bolognese and short rib dishes, which were both delicious. Charcuterie I could have done without and oysters were very good.
