I saw The Shore on my Google map and clicked on the link. I saw their Happy Hour Menu and noticed they had 1/2 price Oysters and several other choices. We decided to stop there on our way back home. We got there at 3:30 and found that they would not open until 4 pm due to an earlier water leak. We asked if we could just sit at the bar until they opened because we really wanted to have oysters for our anniversary. The manager said since we were wanting oysters we could sit at the bar and get drinks and the oysters. Chef Cody explained all the different oysters offered and we decided to let him choose the oysters and we were not disappointed . He chose the gulf coast, summer time, Black moon and pink moon. All the options were fresh tasting with just a touch of saltiness . We also had the mussels with fries. We have not had mussels this good in a very long time. the broth was thick with butter, wine and capers. The grilled ciabatta bread was so buttery and crispy we ordered additional pieces. The calamari was lightly breaded rings and tentacles and were heavenly. We also tried the Hi Mexican Lager on tap, it was light and smooth. Our bartender was very sweet and helpful with our choices. We also would like to thank the manager who being so accommodating to us and making our 42nd anniversary so special. We will definitely stop there again!!!!!
We had a reservation on Saturday lunch, and we waited for 15 to 20min for our table to be ready. There are defiantly areas for improvements. Our tea and coffee were cold and we asked for replacement. Some of the dishes weren't cleaned properly. Overall, it was an ok experience. There are better options in this area.
My friend and I had lunch together after having not seen each other for at least ten years. We were those annoying guests who took too long to order because we immediately needed to catch up! But the server was so gracious and let us take our time. The food was delicious, the ambiance lovely and bright, and although we probably stayed too long, no one rushed us out. I've often eaten here and always enjoyed the food and the service. 5 Stars!
We love returning again and again to Farmstead! We have been enjoying dining since they originally opened. Whether inside for a beautifully shared meal or outside under vines over head we enjoy every moment and bite! The hardworking hostess owner ( 2nd owner) has kept up the reputation and is so welcoming. This is a restaurant that feels intimate and is a pleasure to share a meal with a friend, or family member . Our Faves: Brunch: Smoked Salmon on homemade spelt bread, cream cheese, capers and a few pickled onions. Lunch: Perfect Burger with (fantastic) Fries
I would give it 5 stars if they had actually listed to my request to put the butter sauce on the side. Otherwise they were great with substitution of the rice which I cannot eat. Swordfish kebabs were delicious.
Potential but gosh::. the service is horrendous. You feel like you are imposing just by being there. With so many choices I would skip and certainly not return. Not sure if things were better based on reading older reviews but alas those now seem like fantasy.
“Ladies Who Lunch” we are not- generally. However, our luncheon celebration was utterly delightful. With delicious dishes, presented beautifully, terrific service, attractive, simple, comfortable dining room and no rush, we all agreed we'd come back and enjoy lunch here again, not only for a birthday. lmLove that owner and chef are women, too.
Amazing! As good as any farm to table restaurant in Boston. The service goes above and beyond. Such nice people and such fresh and quality ingredients in relaxing environment. We will definitely return!
We sat on the patio, a lovely grape-vine draped space where the tables are well spread out so conversation was nice and easy. The only issue was that it was warm. The burrata appetizer was excellent and our entrees very good. Always love going to Farmstead Table!
Excellent meals tonight. Enjoyed the shishito pepper appetizer and scallop and duck breast mains. Service was excellent. We sat on the patio which was a wonderful shaded setting. Highly recommended!

A very pleasant brunch at Farmstead on the porch. The weather was perfect and it was so quiet we could have a fine conversation. The food was very good- scrambled eggs and spelt bread- just want we wanted for a late breakfast.
We were disappointed by our meal. This restaurant is inconsistent. We have had much better dinners here in the past. The best thing we had were the mussels; delicious broth and good sized mussels. The most disappointing dish was the halibut; it was fairly dry and seemed like it was not fresh fish. Service was nice; ambiance is nice. This place is hit or miss.
Have been wanting to try this farm to table restaurant and it did not disappoint! Met for a double date with another couple, the space is small but clean and cozy. The cocktails were good and the food was great. Lots of seafood and vegetable options, some with a slight spin on the traditional dish. Highly recommend the scallops. Would go again!
Our waitress was awful. I've never had a server that clearly didn't want to be at work but this was evident the moment she took out orders. Then it took 40 mins for the food to come out after ordering. I even had to get up from the table to go find her to ask if they forgot about our order because she never once came over to let us know it was going to take longer than normal etc as servers always do. This was for Mothers Day brunch with my mom and MIL. When I asked her when the food would be out it's been 40 mins or so all she did was say the kitchen was backed up. No simple apology or smile or anything. Then the food did come out and it was pathetic. I could have easily made the spring salad... simple lettuce with not much else and added grilled chicken for an extra $9 or so. It was fine because it's how I make salad at home... it just doesn't cost me $40 to make a very simple salad with grilled chicken and ONE glass of Chardonnay. That's all I had and it was $42 with a 20 percent tip per person with zero service and we were then late to my sons soccer game that my MIL drove an hour and half to come see after our Mother's Day brunch. I would never go back here. Overall it was a three star experience not because of the restaurant but because of the location in Newton Center and the amazing weather that day.
The apps, drinks, entree and atmosphere were very good. We had the Crispy Brussels Sprouts Tacos, New pasta dish, Steelhead Trout, Queen's Paradise, Fox's Wedding, Gin & Jam, and Garden Party. We will eat here again - need to try the Mushroom Board.
