The food was solid. I ordered the sole. It was cooked well. The sides were tasty, but portioned small. The cheese appetizer could have been better. The country bread should have been more chewy. We ordered a paper plane - it was too sweet. My white wine was ok, unremarkable.
The ambiance at Aquitaine is obviously beautiful but what really stands out is the quality of service. From the host stand to the servers. I am amazed every single time. I ate here early Friday evening with my young daughter and her friend and the staff went all out for them. This restaurant has long been my favorite for a reason. Keep up the great work. Thank you!!
We LOVED this place. Reminded of us of our dining experiences in Paris. The ambience is quiet sophistication and the food authentic and delicious! It was our twin girls' birthday (28 years old) and it was just what they wanted. Will go back time and again for those special times.
Its a nice restaurant, with a good menu and good service. I have been going for years. But the portions were ridiculous for the price! The potato that came with my fish was 5 times the size of the little fish. The duck ravioli was yummy, but there were 8 pieces for $38! Its not hard to add enough for people to eat. Everything was tasty but really, why should anyone not have enough to eat at the prices you sell the food for?
I made a reservation for brunch and when we arrived the table they seated us at was too small for four people. They kindly moved us to a bigger table but then rushed us through our brunch. This was unfortunate because we were with friends we haven't seen in a while. The food was delicious but I hesitate to go back as I had made a reservation for four people and then had to rush through it.
Don't waste your money. This was maybe the worst dining experiences we have ever had. Starting off we had a reservation for 8:45 which was pretty late for us but the menu seemed amazing, so we thought it would be worth the wait. We arrived 10 minutes early at 8:35 where we could clearly see there was no available tables. The host informed us it would be about a 10-15 minute wait. No problem! As the tables began clearing out I thought for sure one had to be for us. Wrong. 3 parties that came in after us, yet were seated right away. After 30 minutes past our reservation time they came over to inform us it should be only another 5-10. 40 minutes after our reservation slot is when we finally got sat. Due to the wait and it being our friends birthday they offered to bring us over complementary champagne, except nothing ever came over! After pouring our water, our server who was an older woman disappeared for another 20 minutes before we had a chance to put our drink order in. Anyways now with it being late we decided to just split a bottle of wine and ordered 3 steaks except they were out of there hanger steak ( steak frites Aquitaine) so we had to upgrade to the NY strip. Our waitress informed us that besides the added cost of it being a more expensive cut they would be happy to put the same truffle vinaigrette, side salad and fries that come with that original dish. With that all 3 of our steaks came out without the vinaigrette, without the side salad, and was what I argue borderline raw in the middle (picture inserted below is my “medium” cooked steak). Out waitress never returned to ask how things turned out so unfortunately we had to flag down who we now know was the manager for help. We asked if the steaks could be cooked more and the vinaigrette to come on all our steaks as promised. The steaks came back slightly more cooked with no salads and she handed us one tiny cup of the vinaigrette to share between 3 Ny strips. After all of that we asked for the manager who
The atmosphere is wonderful. The staff is very professional and welcoming. The food is fantastic and this is my to go place for lunch in the South End. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Lovely place, amazing brunch, friendly people, fast service and great atmosphere. They gave us complimentary drinks and desert for our wedding day brunch celebration.
Have been dining here for something like 18 years and used to love it, but has become uneven. Last night our server had to pick up someone else's tables—not her fault—but we waited 36 minutes to order. Food was super uneven. My duck was pretty good though a little too done. My partner's swordfish was like airplane food. Dry, over processed. Potato dish accompanying it like something that had been reheated too many times and maybe went into microwave. For the prices, just not acceptable.
Been here a long time. Good frenchish fair.

We love Aquatane but it has become very expensive and the portions are small. This would be a special occasion place only from now on.
Our waiter was pleasant and knowledgeable. He recommended the swordfish and that did not disappoint! We also had the mussels, which as always were lovely. You need a bucket of baguettes to soak up the liquid of which they were bathed in! We will return soon. with LOVE
While the food is excellent, on the last two visits, the service has continued to deteriorate. Appetizers arrive before cocktails, and then there is an inordinately long wait/delay for the main course. The bar has been quite slow (for diners) for some time, but recently it seems the delays are even longer. It was nice that the server apologized for the drink delay; however, the appetizers were delivered (again) before we had our cocktails. We weren't the only ones who seemed to have service delayed. There was a solo diner a few tables away who sat after we did, had a soup and dessert, and he was still there when we left. We arrived about 7:20 PM, and while we weren't in a rush, we didn't finish (no dessert) until after 9 PM. While the restaurant was almost full when we arrived, most had left by 8:30 PM (still didn't have our entrees then). We love the atmosphere and food at Aquatiane, and have been eating here since it opened. We hope they get the service back to what it used to be, on par with the food quality.
We were a group of 5 adults (family), including one vegetarian. We each had a different main course, but all really thought they were excellent. A dessert we shared was rich, large and delicious. We Went quite early, around 5:45, and it was only about a quarter full. The noise level was low, which we appreciated because it allowed for comfortable conversation. The service was attentive and efficient. The two members of our group who were from NYC were very impressed by the quality of our meals, and the gracious atmosphere.,
Aquitaine is my new Go To place for a near perfect dining experience. From easy parking and beautiful decor, to attentive waiters and good food, this place makes you feel like you are in an elegant hotel in France.
