Amazingly fresh American Chinese food. Dumplings w sesame, boneless pork spare ribs, general tso’s, and sautéed string beans were exactly what want, with very high qualify ingredients. Chicken was super tender, not dry and overcooked. Sauce on dumplings was stand out to the point we saved it for other dishes. Really wanted to try the Peking Duck, but they were sold out on a busy day

I went inside this restaurant instantly got seated. We had an amazing service, our server setup all of our lap napkins, and got us drinks after only a minute of ordering. Then he gave us options and explained all of the food that we ordered so we knew what we got, and after 5 minutes we got food for 8 items. Their duck was the best duck I've ever had in my entire life and everything was priced fairly for what we have gotten. 10/10 would recommend

Food was fantastic. Perfect portions. Only drawback is the noise filtering and seating. The bar isn’t disconnected from the dining room, so it’s very noisy. It’s not a huge problem, but if you’re looking for a quiet dining experience, this ain’t it. The chairs are very firm and hard to sit on. They could use some cushions.

It was just okay. It's typical Chinese fare and service, in a spiffy venue. Expensive.

Every time we come to Bernards, the service, food and drinks are great. If you like spare ribs, order the center cut, if you like mai tais, order the top shelf mai tai, you won't be disappointed.

Don't let the name foo you - this is one of the best Chinese restaurants around, owned and operated by Bernard Leung.
I was there two days ago for a shopping lunch with my wife.
Everything is delicately prepared to order - this is not a quick food stop - so the meats are amazingly tender, the veggies are still crispy, and the rice or noodles are steaming warm and fresh in flavor - nothing is reheated and or stale. Their scallion pancakes are legendary for a reason - crisp on the outside, moist and chewy inside and exploding with flavor.
I don't often get out to Chestnut Hill, but when I do, Bernard's is my first choice for lunch or dinner.
This is our go-to Chinese takeout place. The food is of good quality, not too salty and not too sweet. However, on one or two occasions out of the numerous orders we've made, all the dishes were a bit too salty for our taste. The food is a bit pricey, especially if you order fish dishes.
Last night we ate at Bernard’s for the first time- I had heard great things about the ribs there- ok - let me start by saying there is a $3 price difference from the website to the restaurant- more at the restaurant- and they were good but definitely not life changing! And definitely not worth $25/order - the last rib was taken away before we got to finish it - also the lo mein was $2 more at the restaurant- when I inquired about the price difference he said the website was probably not updated- not sure that I believe that - also the service was not that friendly and we felt rushed- did not even get a pot of tea!!
Have been wanting to try this place and finally made it. Extremely clean. Food is very fresh. Service was meh..... but the owner is super personable, accommodating, and friendly.
