I had a wonderful experience at Blue Salt Restaurant! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented — every dish we tried was a hit. But what made our visit truly memorable was the exceptional service from Amar. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. His warm personality and professionalism really stood out. Highly recommend this place👍

The food was absolutely delicious, but what truly made the experience exceptional was the service. Special thanks to Amar, who went above and beyond to make everything perfect. His attentiveness and warm attitude really stood out — thank you for making our visit so enjoyable!
We were really looking forward to a special romantic dinner, which our daughter had arranged for us through OpenTable. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we learned that the restaurant was actually hosting a special event that evening, and regular dining wasn’t available. We were offered a plastic table outside the restaurant. Not quite the atmosphere we were hoping for, so we left. We understand that mix-ups happen, but it was a disappointing surprise. We hope the reservation system and communication with guests can be improved in the future.
Incredible Local Gem – Blue Salt Exceeds Expectations
Blue Salt in Newton is hands-down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the Boston area. From the moment we walked in, everything was top-notch—welcoming service, relaxing ambiance, and beautifully executed food.
The seafood is the star here. We started with the grilled octopus (perfectly tender with just the right char) and tuna tartare, both bursting with flavor. For mains, the branzino and squid ink pasta were absolute standouts—fresh, expertly cooked, and plated with care. Even the side vegetables were amazing.
Cocktails were creative and well-balanced, and the wine list pairs perfectly with the Mediterranean-influenced menu. We finished with the olive oil cake, which was light, citrusy, and the perfect end to a flawless meal.
Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about our experience. Prices are very fair for the high quality. Blue Salt feels like fine dining without the fuss.
If you’re looking for a memorable seafood-focused restaurant in Newton or greater Boston, this is it. Can’t wait to go back!

Restaurantji Recommends
Disappointed doesn’t even begin to cover it. After doing a little research about the area, this seemed like a solid choice for my colleague and I to stop for a meal before a work event. Boy were we mistaken. The first red flag should have been that there were not any other diners in the restaurant. We ordered the baked Brie as an appetizer- that was ok. Nothing to write home about. Mostly just crostinis drenched in balsamic vinegar with a wedge of Brie cheese. Next we ordered the pesto linguine and chicken kebabs to share. Linguine was pretty stander. The chicken kebabs were RAW - and I mean RAW - not cooked whatsoever in the middle. The waitress comes over and asks if we want them to be cooked longer - we say yes and assume that they’ll send out new chicken and probably discount our bill. Nope. They send back out the same chicken skewers - including the little crumbs we had cut off - and did not discount the bill. It was very odd. and we were totally grossed out. Especially after watching one employee leave the bathroom and immediately pick his nose. Do not recommend. There seemed to be way better options in that general area that sadly did not come up on Google in our search before our trip.

Ordered several items- each and every one of them was disappointing to say the least
Really good foie Grass burger with amazing fries
What a gem in Newton! Ended up here for a late lunch, will return for dinner. Love the outdoor seating under the lamps and the stellar service! Great cocktails and fusion.

Before I go into any detail about the food, let me say that my rating of it (2 stars) is partially in relation to the cost. I certainly expected more for the price.
The restaurant bills itself as "fusion" but the menu is less fusion of cuisines than a jumble of dishes from different parts of the world. The atmosphere is equally confusing. One wall inexplicably had changing interior and exterior images of a fake Vermont country store (or something like that?) being projected on it despite the fact that there were framed pictures hanging there too. The windows conspicuously need cleaning.
Our server was pleasant but not attentive. She had the unenviable job of informing us that they were out of multiple items we attempted to order.
We split a salad which turned out to be missing some of the ingredients that had led us to choose it. The dressing was bland, and that descriptor was peculiarly true of nearly every dish that followed.
Maybe, given the glowing reviews that some have written, we just caught the food on an off night (it was a Saturday evening and not particularly busy... no obvious excuse for it to be so). But I'm not inclined to give it that benefit of the doubt.
