Coconut Newton is a Thai restaurant that also shares and cooks food alongside the sister restaurant right next to it, Coco Ramen.
The staff were friendly and accommodating, as we had a larger party but there weren't enough seats in Coco Ramen, so we were sat inside Coconut instead. The staff brought the food out quickly and we were able to eat and stay even past closing.
We tried dishes from both restaurants, such as the Basil Fried Rice with Chicken Cutlet, Tom Yum Soup, and more. The Tom Yum Soup was alright, it reminded me of a soupy Pad Thai, which isn't what we were expecting from a Tom yum soup. the Basil fried rice was good though, and it had a good kick and spice to it, and the chicken went well with it. The menu was a little confusing though when choosing fried rice, so we chose the basil fried rice on a whim.
Love the papaya salad here. Great for the warm weather. The size of the noodle soup was generous. The broth’s herbal aroma was well balanced. Slightly salty for me though but I believe most of the clients will be fine. Worth revisiting if nearby.
Consistently great food! Had Chicken Satay, pan fried ravioli and crispy rolls. Pad Thai too. All delicious, great sauces paired with all. Great prices too. Everyone loved it.
Very good Thai food. With a very good price. Their Mango sticky rice is very good!
Coconut is my go to for Thai. An absolute legend of Newton, the best of the best 🏆
Great appetizers! Don’t recommend getting pork with pad Thai as it smells off.
One of our most favorite places to eat, tons of gluten free options
I ordered Indonesian Fried Rice (with Fried chicken), and it was a huge disappointment. The chicken was overcooked so bad or ages ago to the point that the meat was black, hard, and incredibly tough to chew. It was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. The rice was passable but I would not say it’s decent fried rice. I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience. I ordered delivery.
So slow so bad

Excellent Thai curry. Delicious fried rice. Really great lunch after a good massage at Baan Thai around the corner.

The Thai fried rice was tasty and it included chopped tomatoes, which I thought added to the dish. They had lychee ramune on hand as a beverage option and we also liked the chicken satay skewers. The place is small and if you sit near the door on a cold night, you'll feel it every time somebody comes in. A curtain at the entrance could help. I've eaten here twice. Once it was packed, and the next time we were the only sit-down customers. Service was very friendly.
