This ramen is insane. I am writing this from a well reviewed ramen joint in NYC, because I am thinking about this ramen while I eat some here. It is that good. The karaage chicken is also insane. I dream about this place and always look forward to coming back. Everyone is super nice, solid playlists typically playing. Couldn't recommend more.

Nice change from typical suburban Japanese... This place focuses on ramen & rice bowls and does them very well.

I was looking for a restaurant which specializes in ramen and a friend suggested Little Big Diner. Despite seeing several reviews I thought I would try it anyway. Surely, applying too much salt is an easy fix. Well, I shouldn’t have been shocked but I can attest to the widespread use of too much salt. I got the Spicy Tan Tan and Chef’s Ultra and a side of cucumber salad. I’m still trying to understand what makes the Chef’s Ultra “Ultra. The miso base was very blah. The Spicy base was better but not great. And of course everything was too salty. It literally tastes as if when any dish is done, someone steps in with a huge salt shaker and goes to town. Bazaar!
I'm always looking for interesting ramen and love places that experiment with new flavor combinations so when I saw the pumpkin ramen special on Little Big Diner's menu then I knew I had to try it. Located in downtown Newton, it's a great area to find parking and explore. I ordered on the app and kind of scoffed at the almost 1 hour wait time and figured it would be done much sooner than that, but it was not and I'm happy to have had a bit of a wait and time to explore the cute downtown area. Plenty to see and not too crowded - I enjoyed visiting a bakery (or two) and checking out the bookstore. I will say they told me they'd send a text message to alert me when the food was ready and they never sent one so it was good I went back and checked and didn't rely on their notification. My dining partner and I decided to try the pumpkin ramen and the kara-age fried chicken bowl. The items were a bit pricy but in line with what you pay outside of Boston. The pumpkin ramen was okay - I was not blown away by it but my friend loved it. I really didn't like the grilled tofu and felt the flavor was very bland. I think I'm more a pork based ramen fan and this one didn't contain the same flavors. It also was very light on other ingredients like the promised cabbage and pumpkin seeds. The kara-age chicken, however, was amazing. Lovely taste and a huge amount included in the bowl. The bowl came with brown rice (if you wanted to substitute extra veggies instead of rice it was a two dollar charge which I found a bit expensive). The sauces it came with we luckily got on the side as they were way too spicy for me. I loved the pickled cucumber. I could eat a bowl of that chicken mixed with the pickled cucumbers and be happy and full. Both portions were huge. I'd likely go back for the chicken bowl and give one of their meatier ramens a try so I do think it's worth checking out if you're in the area.
Ramen down the street is much tastier. Was disappointed

The food was amazing 10/10 best ramen I've had in a long time. Would highly recommend this place for take out. The two down falls of this place for me is ramen places are notorious fast we waiting in the restaurant for about 45-60 minutes to get our food. Secondly, I'm not one to complain about the music but danm was it loud for a nice small quant ramen place they were basting the music so loud both inside and outside it was very hard to hear the person sitting next to me.

Worst experience in a long, long time.
Went on the Saturday evening of Labor Day weekend. Place was 1/4 full. Adult daughter and I were given the choice of sitting outside, on top of hedges crawling with bees (although there were 3 empty middle tables,) or inside. We went inside and were then ordered to sit in the corner, right near the kitchen (although only one other table was occupied) “in case other people come!!!!”
We quietly left. The greeter actually said “It’s good that you’re leaving!!!!”
Then….the greeter & manager actually followed us down the street, loudly telling every other restaurants not to serve us!!!!!
Wow…just wow! I’ve lived in Newton my entire life & have never, ever encountered the level of arrogance and downright creepiness that these two displayed.
It makes me wonder. If this is how they treat a white, middle aged Newton woman and her adult daughter, how are they to others they don’t like??

Great spot! I’ve been here a couple of times and the ramen is always delicious. The space is quite small and without a reservation, expect to wait 20 - 30 minutes for a table.
Mediocre food, mediocre service, expensive for what we got and lots of fruit flies surrounding our food that we had to constantly swat away. It’s off the list for ramen. Just go to Coco Ramen, It’s better.
The atmosphere was great, service was great as well. The servers were knowledgeable and brought the food out in a timely manner. They were also very friendly and recommended the best options for our party.
Unfortunately the food wasn’t the best and I had my expectations high due to everyone raving about the place. I got the chef’s ultra ramen. My personal opinion is that a ramen is characterized by a great broth and ingredients, which unfortunately it had neither. The noodles were decent, but the rest of the ingredients didn’t really feel like it matched the ramen. The broth was salty but also felt flavorless, just salt. The best part of my meal was the Karage chicken, which did have great flavor and a good taste.
I probably won’t go here again unless I am with friends.

Food is soso not really real Japanese ramen which i didn’t expected anyway. But service was poor. Gave us appetizer and after appetizer gone for 35min, other 2-3 table who came long after us got food and almost finished…. We still haven’t got our food. Not recommended!!
Guy waiter even asked us “so what do you want? Want to take home instead?”” And what specific table who got food before you?”
I pointed to them..
He goes “oh coz they didn’t have appetizer, you have appetizer so we want you to finished first”
I was “but we finished half an hour ago”
He was “oh sorry for that then”
Speechless….
