Highly recommend! Took my first class in 2018 with zero restaurant/ServSafe knowledge. Bon was very thorough and made sure I had a strong understanding of every topic. I just took my second class and exam for recertification and it was a breeze! Bon prepared me very well. Thank you!!

Bon is the absolute best instructor!! I was under a deadline and he fit me into his schedule quickly. He knew exactly what I needed and taught, encourage and praised me for my efforts. I couldn't have done it without him. Thank you so much!!!

Before taking Bon’s class, I was trying to memorize everything?. Bon is excellent at teaching! He was able to break things down so I understood rather than memorize all the subject matter. Thank you so much for a great experience Bon.

Bon, is an amazing instructor and proctor. I had the best experience, I have all the positive things to say about him. Bon, takes time to explain and provide deep and detailed examples about any topic that is related to the chapters. Overall, Bon is very professional.

Bon was an amazing teacher! He was very patient, kind and understanding. Made me more confident in myself and helped me pass an already really tough servsafe exam. Thank you again!

Bon has all the patience to explain every single topic about serve safe and also he makes the class fun. I would recommend this servesafe proctor to everyone in the restaurant industry.

Bon was an amazing teacher, and I’m not just saying that because he helped me to pass the test on the first try. I found that his class was so comprehensive - like the best teachers, he did not only concern himself with whether I had memorized the material, but was much more invested in helping me to *understand* the concepts. He correctly predicted that this understanding is what helps someone to obtain certification and of course understand how to handle food safely. As someone with no food service experience, this was incredibly helpful and gave me the confidence I needed to tackle the test questions. In addition, he is non-judgmental and humorous so the class was very enjoyable. Five stars!

Awesome experience, food and people - such a great time! We were there for a party (and this place is an amazing idea for a party location) - an amazing and ideal introduction to sushi-making, teaching you step-by-step how to make rice-inside and rice-outside rolls and providing all the tools and food to make vegetarian and tuna-filled rolls. Comfortable atmosphere, time to ask questions, and high-quality food (plus so much fun). Our rolls came out great thanks to the help of Josephine and Bon, both really great instructors. Hope to come back again and would recommend it for a couple's night out or a great spot for a party (and BYOB which helps a lot!)

My girlfriend and I recently attended one of their sushi making classes where we had a really nice time. I have a significant shellfish allergy and everything was appropriately set up so that there would be no cross contamination. There were 7 couples with us that evening and every group took advantage of the BYOB option which certainly made for a more relaxed crowd. Bon, your host, does quick introductions and then proceeds with his hands on demonstration on how to make California rolls. You get about 18 pieces worth of sushi that you make on your own and most people brought back leftovers with them. I read other reviews complaining about the temperature, their personal work space, and the quality of the sushi itself. No one in our group had any of these problems but I won't speak to another's experience. I have attended multiple other types of bartending/cooking classes with this really no different then any of them. All in all, it was a great night for us. If I could offer feedback, I would recommend a small history lesson on sushi itself and more hands on assistance with students while they try and roll out their own sushi product. Otherwise, it was a fun evening and I would recommend it for other sushi lovers.

As a sushi lover who has never made sushi before, I thought "Sea To You Sushi" would be a good place to check out-- I was wrong. To start, the place was freezing!!! The entire class kept their jackets on during the entire duration of the class. I could even see my breath (it was that frigid). Lack of heat in an establishment filled with guests in unacceptable!!! The class was underprepared. Each guest was given a station except my friend and I. I had to inform the instructor my guest and I had no ingredients to work with. Upon receiving our ingredients, my friend and I walked over to the communal rice bowl only to see there was no rice left... I once again had to inform the instructor they were underprepared. My sushi came out poorly (I am only to blame for this), however the taste of the food seemed to be very poor-- definitely not quality ingredients. P.S. the windows were covered in "FOR RENT "signs... possible indication their business is not doing too well... I wonder why. I would spend your $40 on sushi elsewhere.

Hi Bon, I am writing to you because of a very, very poor experience at Sea To You sushi class in Newton on 12/29/17. I purchased 2 intro Sushi Couples public classes ($160) for Christmas gifts for my girlfriend, my son and his girlfriend. My expectations were a fun & informative evening out with people I love. We all love sushi too! But, we all left VERY, VERY COLD and VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!! Let me note my issues; Class Room Temperature -the class room was uncomfortably cold while the entire class wore coats and we all did our best to roll sushi while bundled up and shivering. Josephine had several space heaters, BUT the classroom never even got close to warm (a violation of Massachusetts General Law Section 113, Chapter 149). Josephine said the heat was set at 90 but no central heating ever kicked on. Uncomfortable and unacceptable! In retrospect, we all should have left at arrival but we trusted that the heating system would make us comfortable. VERY UNPREPARED - 1. The classroom was set for 10 people crowded around 1 stainless steel table (very crowded). But, 12 customers were in attendance. I had to tell Josephine that we needed more elbow room to prepare sushi and I added a table with Josephine's help. 2. Not enough work stations set up - again 10 set ups for 12 guests. Josephine added 2 station set ups (cutting mat and a makisu). 3. Not enough prepared food plate set ups (nori/tuna/cucumber) -again only 10 plates for 12 guests. My son and I did not get a plate set up and we waited 10-15 minutes while my guest and the balance of the class were rolling. 4. Not enough rice. When my son & I got our plate set ups the rice was gone and used by the 10 other guests. We had to wait 15 minutes for rice which was served HOT and UNSEASONED! This is a MAJOR SUSHI FAUX PAS! PORTION SIZES - FOOD QUALITY 1. 3-half sheets of nori 2. 4 small slices of cucumber 3. 4-5 ounces of runny, spicy tuna puree like 4. sushi rice served HOT and UNSEASONED 5. Minor issue - no chopsticks were available only plastic forks. A conceptually lacking detail! TRAINING/PRESENTATION - The training was done by Josephine while she wore a coat too (COLD)! Here presentation was only 10 minutes of "how to roll" with little interesting content and zero entertainment value. She disappeared while the class rolled the unseasoned sushi rice. Probably escaping the cold class room. Finally, unacceptable follow up to my complaints (all issues above) via email. It took 5 days for a response and when I finally spoke with Niki she was defensive and barely apologetic. I mentioned your name (Bon) and she asked how I knew you!?!? She seemed intimidated by the fact I knew the owner's name. I also asked to speak with you personally (you are the legal owner by all Massachusetts's records) and she said that you are not involved!?!? Something smells funny here!!! This is a failing business with a M.I.A. owner - Bon. BTW - the business is closing as the space is for lease! Call 781 591 3232 for the listing. Please see below! BUYERS BEWARE !!!!! I made a BIG mistake and I hope this helps you from making the same. THIS COURSE IS A JOKE - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY - STAY AWAY!!!!! Check out an AWESOME sushi course at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts - Awesome post about the Cambridge School's sushi class -

This was so much fun! We had the private lesson with Josephine. She is amazing! We took home so much sushi. We didn't feel rushed - a nice relaxing vibe and we were able to goof off and have fun while learning from a very talented chef. Thanks so much!

Fun class, its byob and get to make a healthy amount of sushi to either eat there or bring home with you. Good date spot.

Really bad time. They nickel and dime you to death. The money my wife and I paid, we could have gone to 2 Sushi dinners. we were given enough ingredients to make 2 maki rolls each. They put 11 people at a really narrow table and there was not enough room to roll and have your ingredient plate without interfering with the other persons in the class. If you wanted more ingredients you would have to pay for it. We did and it came to an additional $16. I learned more from Whole foods when they have these types of events and guess what Whole foods was free and leaned the same. I agree that the instructor is funny but I was not paying for a comedian. I will never again and I do not recommend it.

When I move from Boston, I am definitely going to miss Sea to You. Here's why: the best value they offer is their retail offering for fish where you can order as much or as little fish of various varieties as you wish. You eat exactly what you want. I've come here so often that with just the savings from the Sea to You Membership Card ($10/year), I've been able to purchase a high end Yanagi (sashimi) knife. Buy the fish yourself and slice it at home with a sharp chefs knife. The only other things you need to start making your own sushi at home is sushi rice (there is a difference), sushi seasoning (I prefer it in the powerderized form in an orange package), nori, and a rolling mat. Occasionally the fish quality isn't as good as it typically is but it must be remembered that sashimi grade fish represent such a small percentage of the ocean's fish that it's understandable. Unlike many Yelpers, I've never attended a class here. I have purchased deals through Groupon and LivingSocial for platters without any problems. The sushi quality for the platters is very consistent. If you want to go the DIY route they sell everything for you right there or you can try any Asian grocery store as well.
