One of if not my most favorite sushi restaurants. I've gotten to know the owner and they are exceptional at what they do. Food sourcing and ingredients are top notch. Mix this with an innovative menu and you get a sushi establishment that takes the higher road. Highly recommend!!

5/5 Stars! We have been long-time customers ever since they opened, and we always look forward to the exceptional experience we know we’ll have when we come to visit Chef Alex and his amazing team! From the ambiance and service, to the artfully prepared dishes from the highest quality ingredients, dining here never ceases to impress us.
The dedication to their craft, respect for the ingredients, and keen attention to detail are evident in everything Chef Alex and his team do. My wife and I are already looking forward to our next visit!

I truly cannot recommend Chef James and his wife, Jasmine enough. We hired them for a private omakase party for my bachelorette. They absolutely exceeded our expectations. They were kind and attentive, and the food was out of this world. Every piece was fresh and absolutely delish! I truly cannot recommend them enough- they are THE BEST! My friends and I still can’t stop talking about that meal!

The best sushi I have ever eaten in my life. The owner and head chef, Alex, was very nice to us and took the time to serve us and explaining each dish. On top of everything, they have my favorite tequila.

Hands down the best sushi in the Boston area. So fresh and creative. You usually need a reservation to have dinner here and they only accept them via phone or email (an online booking would be really great in the future!). Takeout sushi is just as outstanding. They can make gluten free sushi as well which is awesome.
I’ve been bringing friends to Sushico for years, telling them that “it’s the Best Sushi in Boston.” There is often skepticism. After all, it’s a nondescript storefront in Newton Centre. They take a first bite and say some version of “OMG.” Every time. Without exceptions. No matter how much gets ordered, there are never leftovers.
Freshest fish. Best seasoned rice. Incredible attention paid to the sauces, which differ on each piece of nigiri. Owner/chef Alex has created something amazing here, which never fails to delight my tastebuds and impress my guests.
Don’t miss the tacos, the black cod nigiri, hamachi with jalapeño and the boomer roll. You will thank me (and say some version of “OMG”)

A Sushi Dream Realized – Sushico in Newton Center is a Hidden Gem Worth Obsessing Over! If culinary nirvana exists, it's tucked away in Newton Center—and it goes by the name Sushico. This isn’t your average spicy tuna roll operation. Sushico crafts each piece with the care of a sculptor and the soul of an artist. The service? Impeccable. Attentive without hovering. Friendly without pretense. They know their menu, and it shows. In a world full of sushi spots vying for attention, Sushico is in a league of its own. Newton Center, you’re lucky to have this one.

Walked up and asked if they had seats, they said they had room at the bar, we asked if we could check the menu. Not 60 seconds later they gave the last seats to someone behind us in line without asking.
All okay, it’s an honest mistake, but their response had very much in air of it being our fault for looking at the menu with no apology.
It was particularly frustrating since we immediately cancelled our spot on the list at another restaurant when we decided to stay.

Stopped in based off of a recommendation. We stood at the door for nearly 10 mins, without being greeted. There is no host stand, or POS system in site, and since no one greeted us, my assumption was that it may have been a seat yourself style place. It was full, but not packed enough for me to think that they couldn't have greeted us quickly and let us know they’d be with us shortly. I kindly asked about the seating arrangements, and the “server” literally gawked at me, and said “No, this isn't a seat yourself. Do you even have a reservation?!”.
I was immediately taken aback. I’ve worked in restaurants for 15 years; in BOH, FOH, and management of 5 start restaurants in Boston such as Y’vonne’s, Lolita (the old Back Bay location), and Empire. I’ve been in the most stressful situations, and I would never consider speaking to someone in such a condescending manner- especially if I had left someone standing at the door for 10 mins. Someone younger did approach us after, and was much kinder and explained that had a booked evening, which is no biggie! Like I said, I get it! We ended up going to “Little Big Diner” across the way, which is a ramen spot. He was happy to add our name to the waitlist, it was about 20 mins. Their service was excellent. Food, top tier. I’d recommend it.

My brothers and I got in, we're immediately seated, and then basically ignored for 30 mins. We heard the food was amazing so it didn't bother us too much but it did rub us the wrong way.
Regardless, we waited 40 mins total because we wanted to eat everything all at once anyway. The food started coming out and it was spectacular. The difference in flavor between rolls, the difference in structure, and the uniqueness was amazing. We talked to the owners afterwards and they shared their journey in how they constructed these rolls during covid. We're definitely going back
