Sycamore is our favorite restaurant in Newton Centre! Chef David Punch and his team are phenomenal. If you appreciate expertly prepared seasonal meals in a warm, friendly atmosphere, you won't be disappointed.

The service, ambience, athmosphere and food were all better than good. My nit pick? My wife cannot have foods containing milk and cheese from a cow or those that contain shellfish. Many of the dishes seen online looked perfect for her, salades, pastas et. But, once at the restaurant we found out that these same interesting dishes that she would have liked to have enjoyed ALL contained cream, may I add needlessly for many. She had to order steak. My pasta dish was great as was the soup. We loved the restaurant but probably, unfortunately, wll not return. Bummer!

What a wonderful way to spend a birthday celebration! Perfect atmosphere - lively yet not too loud, cozy but not too stuffy. The service was diligent and very nice. Coursed out our apps dinner and dessert perfectly. We had asked for one of the mains (the ragu) to be our starter and they were not only accommodating, but they even put it in two separate bowls(BIG WIN). The mains were delicious and fresh. And the dessert??? Chocolate pistachio cheesecake? 10/10 Once again, a perfect birthday dinner.

I’ve been wanting to come here for a long time and I understand its appeal. Definitely a 3.5 to 4 star neighborhood joint. Sat at the bar a few weeks ago with a work colleague and for a Wednesday it was packed and loud. The bartender barely gave us the time of day and the drink he made me seemed pre-batched it came out so quickly. The level of service, or lack thereof, coupled with the higher prices and level of noice all contributed to a less than ideal experience. Maybe it was just an off night, in particular to the left of us was a couple who knew the gentleman to the right of us who were wasted and shots were bought for both parties and talking across from us both times which got increasingly annoying. Solid food, decent portions. Wouldn’t go out of my way.

Sycamore is a great neighborhood restaurant. The food, in general, is consistently good. We can usually count on a good meal here. The menu is small but has a good variety. The meats, soups, and pastas are done well. The fish dishes are sometimes inconsistent. Limited dessert choices but they are usually good.
My only complaint is that the staff rushes to clear plates even though we were not done eating, as time gets close to the reservation time limit. A few times, they took the plates with food away before we were able to speak up. I understand they want to turn the table over but would prefer that they give us a heads up so we can finish faster. Sometimes, we get lost in conversations and not always mindful of the time.

The food was amazing. I ordered the veal pate and the chicken dish. Both were very tasty and the chicken was crispy and moist. The service was wonderful and the place was lively. Will definitely be coming back.
