Went here for a date night before a semi casual event-- food was alright, service at the table was fine, but when I walked in while my partner was parking the car the hostess looked me up and down, made a nasty face, and said "can I....help you?" as if she were disgusted. She sat us at a tiny 2-top in the back of the restaurant in what was probably the worst table in the house (a table that should not even be there since it clearly does not fit), flat against the wall, my partner had to squeeze between the wall and the table and I was chair to chair with the person behind me. The light was flickering and it felt like the staff rushed us to get us out sooner. I would understand if it was a walk in on a busy night, but the restaurant was empty besides 3 other parties and we had made a reservation. Honestly, the interaction ruined our night and left us with a very sour taste in our mouths. Would not recommend if you're looking for a good experience start to finish and good service. You can get the same dishes anywhere else, just as good without the hostility.

When you are in Tartufo, you truly feel the European warmth and elegance in service, food quality and atmosphere! Happy this wonderful restaurant is right in the heart on Newton! Special compliments go to Anna, the owner, and Chris, the manager! Best wishes for many successful years! Best, Natasha

Visiting recently for a small birthday party- The general ambiance is nice, clean, simple. The food was overall -good . The wait staff was rude and clearly not trained. No idea what was on the menu. No idea on order of service (, drinks, appetizer, entrees etc) no idea what was in the most basic cocktail? And rude and butt hurt. Too bad - he ruins it for everyone

Used to dine at Tartufo’s a few times per month pre pandemic.Returned last nite.Definitely not the same:2 of my previously favorite dishes were bland (grilled calamari and Orecchiette)Wrong order delivered to the table. When my wife said “this isn’t mine” waitress responded I know but no apology.Upstairs atmosphere feels like a function room unlike downstairs seating.Much better value/atmosphere/service at Vinotta in Waltham or Davio’s in Chestnut Hill.

The food tasted good but the ratios were horrendous.Kid-friendliness: The portions were sized for a kid.

The food looked and tasted delicious. Cocktail s and wine were good pours. Prices were on the higher side. Second floor dinning with steep stairs. No elevator. Service was lacking. Over all despite the food being good the service left a bad taste in my mouth.

Had a wonderful home delivery dinner from Tartufo. We sampled four different pasta dishes and all were expertly prepared, delicious, and arrived in excellent condition (the rolls were still warm). The desserts (Cannolis) were delicious too. Highly recommend.

Food was a little bland, but servers were very nice and the atmosphere was good. Large portions for the price. We got the Beef Carpaccio, Truffle Pasta, and the Veal Marsala. The carpaccio was probably the best out of the three. Truffle pasta was okay after we added the cheese. The risotto that came with the veal was dry and bland but the veal itself was pretty good. Overall worth going maybe once but probably won’t come again.

Overpriced italian food in Newton. We came as a group and while the vibes were very festive on a weekday, the food was a different story. I had the lobster pasta which was flavorless and overcooked. The apps which included tomato burrata and meatball tasted bland (a bit like frozen meatballs).

I dined here last night to celebrate a friend's birthday; there were three of us. My first time and I *will* be back. We sat upstairs which was more intimate than downstairs, which was hopping and a bit noisy. We started off with wine--2 glasses of sauvignon blanc and 1 of chardonnay, which were fine. The birthday girl and I had the Scallops and Pappardelle, which we both declared delicious. Four large scallops and the pappardelle was cooked to perfection in just the right amount of a nice creamy sauce. Our companion had something similar which she also loved. The bread offered was less than impressive--I'm sure it was authentic but not to my taste, too crunchy. I did a quick internet search and it looked close to crostini. Service was outstanding, attentive but not too much so. When the waitperson found out we were celebrating a birthday he offered a dessert on the house -- classy, Tartufo! The profiteroles (photo attached) were scrumptuous. All in all, a success. I can't wait to return!

Fair at best. Lunch meeting / empty restaurant. Was interrupted to move car because it was in the 'owners spot'. Signage did not designate space as 'owner'. Unwelcoming ... will not return.
