Hubby and I love dining on the patio of the Coolidge Park Cafe at the Hotel Northampton at least once or twice a season. Normally the food is good, just good. But last night it was stellar. Hubby had the pan seared wild caught salmon over polenta with fried Brussels sprouts and I had the pan seared wild caught scallops over mushroom risotto and asparagus spears. Everything was absolutely delicious. I haven't had a decent scallop in years, but these really tasted of scallops and the sea with a great texture. The risotto was so rich and mushroomy I can see I'm going to have to make a special broth and buy a bunch of mushrooms to try making one myself. We shared the lemon tart which also knocked our socks off. The server was equally stellar, thoroughly professional and delightful at the same time. We'll be back before snow flies for sure!
Parking: There is plenty of free parking behind and next to the hotel.

Tori the bartender is wonderful! She reminds me a bit of Shelly Long from Cheers. Well crafted beverages and friendly conversation.

Our attendant was Owen. While perhaps a nice young man any other time he’s not working, his less than stellar performance left something to be desired. We ordered wine which was brought to the table and left for us to pour. Perhaps he wasn’t of age to serve drinks? I do not know. My partner had asked for mustard and Owen appeared to be quite disturbed that he would have to make another run to get it right down to the look of sheer contempt on his face. Perhaps he’s not had many years of experience, but young staff should be ready to take on the challenges of refining etiquette, courtesy etc. We’ve eaten at this establishment many times and the young staff need more training or the selection process for employment opportunities there needs to be refine/redefined.. I hope this will be a one time issue and not something that I have to expect going forward. Food was excellent!!

I have had good experiences here in the past, but today I came with a party of 4. The food was inedible. The rack of ribs was quite obviously cooked long ago and reheated. The coleslaw was borderline rancid. The chicken wings tasted like they were cooked rotten. The drinks were fine. Because of this food, I will never return.

Stopped in for a late lunch and endured a shift change but all was well. Good food, good service.
I had late night close the bar drinks here; I drank their "Smokey smoked Margarita" which was a delight. It has Del Maguey Mezcal in it and Jalapeno syrup; Just all around well balanced spicy, smoky cocktail. Although, maybe a touch too sweet? then there might be less heat, and the heat was perfection. There was only one bartender staffed and she was EXCELLENT.The next morning I had oatmeal and English muffin; The English muffin was a lot better bread than the dinner rolls in Wiggins Tavern. The oatmeal was perfect. There was only one waitress staffed, but I sat alone and she sat me next to her station; so she served me very well. This Hotel (Northampton) would be well served by bringing their food game up at least 3 levels.

The onion soup was so plain, a real disappointment. Not like it usually is.

Restaurantji Recommends
Stayed the night. Hotel rooms were very nice and comfortable. The food on the other hand was good, couldn't eat it, flavorless. Service was just as poor. Wouldn't recommend the bar or cafe you can do better.

The food is OK, nothing special, for the price you can't expect less than what you receive, but the staff leaves much, much to be desired, one of the worst services I received in Northampton. We waited an hour for breakfast, we had to ask for water, ask for coffee milk twice because they forgot or it was just not enough, definitely if you are staying at the hotel, there are much better places to eat nearby.
