First visit in years. What coffee do you have today? Girl at the register says we have light, medium and then she hesitated and turned to look at the label which said French roast. I believe she was deciding between saying French roast and dark and finally started to say French when I said, I'll have the light, thank you. no mention of the Coffee's origin.I also bought a breakfast sandwich. She didn't ask if I wanted that heated. Didn't offer any napkins and there weren't any to be found. I suppose it's nice to know that nothing has changed. I feel like an idiot for tipping them.
Used to have fantastic Barrington Coffee but switched to a generic 2nd label. Shelburne Falls Coffee now owns it (+ Tart and Greenfield Coffee) and the quality of the beans isn't anything near what Barrington offers. It's a shame as I go for quality of coffee every time, not just how close a shop is located.

Catalpa has been a game changer for my husband and I. We are particularly well versed with coffee and we travel frequently. Wherever we go, we look for a great latte, it's just our thing. Catalpa has thus far been pretty unbeatable, the texture, flavor profile and service is always wonderful. The staff is always so friendly and outgoing. I cannot speak to the food aspect because I am gluten free but my daughter really appreciates when they have blueberry muffins! I do wish they offered some gluten free options other than the yogurt parfait and oatmeal, but everything else makes up for that. Miguel particularly has an amazing craft and it's a wonder to me how he makes such a great Mocha. Even our kids love their hot chocolates and brewed iced teas. Try it out, you won't be disappointed!

Best Chai lattes along the I91 corridor! We live 2 hours away but end up stopping here most times we are driving back north.

Capitala Coffee is way to expensive for what they offer. I got a Ham Egg and Cheese sandwich and a Hibiscus Tea. The Hibiscus Tea was fine, you can get just as good a Hibiscus Tea at Starbucks. The Sandwich was awful, they only make them in the morning so if you go for a lunch in to get food don’t go to this place. They only make their sandwiches in the morning where at Starbucks you can get them fresh any time. The bread was atrocious, it was hard and the ham was like chewing on rubber, and I spent 12$ on the whole order. Overall the attitudes of the employers are very monotone and if thats your speed thats fine, but theirs no personality. Overall Capitala coffee is way to expensive for subpar coffee and bad food, and you can get breakfast or lunch anywhere for just as much and the food is actually fresh. I am shocked I even have to say that as a customer I want fresh food when I pay for it.

The vibe is lovely, the pastries and beans are good, but their ratios for espresso drinks are really off. I’m not sure if they’re just trying to cram too many shots into their drinks, or if they’re burning their espresso, or both, but their lattes and cappuccinos end up tasting bitter and aggressively strong. I absolutely love strong coffee, and if this was being done well I would love it, but something is off and the drinks aren’t well-balanced. I hope they make adjustments, because it would be a really lovely, top-tier place if they did!

It’s just a coffee shop. The pastry selection seems fine but quality is pretty poor lately. Generally hard, tough, and stale.

Catalpa is a genus of flowering trees in the family Bignoniaceae, native to North America, the Caribbean, and East Asia. Here’s a breakdown:
Botanical Features:
• Leaves: Large, heart-shaped, and arranged in whorls or opposite pairs.
• Flowers: Showy, white or purple, trumpet-shaped, often with yellow and purple markings.
• Pods: Long, slender seed pods that resemble beans (sometimes called “cigar trees”).
• Height: Typically 40–70 feet tall.
Fun fact: Catalpa trees can “snow” in summer. When they’re in full bloom, their large, white, orchid-like flowers often fall all at once after a rain or strong wind, covering the ground like snow—just without the cold. It’s weirdly magical and messy at the same time.
Yes, Catalpa trees do grow near Vermont and Massachusetts, though they’re not native to New England.
• Northern Catalpa (Catalpa speciosa) is native to the Midwest and parts of the South but has been widely planted in the Northeast as an ornamental or shade tree.
• Southern Catalpa (Catalpa bignonioides) is more southern in origin but also shows up in New England landscapes.
In Massachusetts, you’ll definitely find them in parks, old estates, city plantings, and sometimes near older homes. In Vermont, they’re rarer because of the colder climate, but some individual specimens do survive in warmer microclimates or with care.

So sad. This was my absolute go to place for a delicious treat. The Almond Croissants were AMAZING. I guess they have a new baker😕. I’ve been twice in the last couple months and both times I couldn’t even eat what I got. The croissant was like a donut. I called and the barista was super apologetic. I hope they remedy the situation. This was the best pastry spot in town.

Awesome coffee, and will continue to be a loyal customer. But terrible plastic cups/lids, worth exploring alternatives.
