I lived in Taiwan for several years and this place has super authentic Taiwanese street food and other typical dishes. A lot of this is hard to find in restaurants in the US, and I was so excited by the menu here! There were lots of vegetarian options, and everything was delicious and well presented. The server was very helpful and friendly. I wish I lived a lot closer than 2 hours away so I could go all the time!
Tried T. Roots for a bird to eat today. Ordered the hot and sour soup, which was HUGE! Fill bowl of super heated soup, took forever to cook down, but actual spice was not very spicy, but had good taste. The ingredients were very different from regular Chinese restaurant hot and sour. Wife had udon veggie noodles, which was a smaller portion, certainly compared to the soup. We also had soup dumplings, which were 'okay, but made elsewhere and bought, nit prepared on-site. Overall...
I would give a 5 out of 5 but the past 2 times I have gone there, the service was not friendly. 1 of them was watching and hovering over us the last hour of closing. We left 20 minutes before because it was uncomfortable but the food is delicious.
