This place has gone to shambles. Everything has changed including the staff, food and its taste. Not worth a long ride to try out a different cuisine.

Kumar’s Place boasts a pleasant ambiance with courteous staff. They offer a commendable South Indian menu. Today, I drove 31 miles from Boston specifically to dine here, but it turned out to be just another typical Boston Indian restaurant. I ordered Madras chicken fry, chicken pepper fry, porotta, and filter coffee. The coffee was exceptional. However, both the chicken and mutton were overly salty for my liking, which made it difficult to enjoy with the porotta. If you were to ask if I'd return, I might, if I happen to be in the vicinity, but it wouldn't be my first choice. In terms of pricing, it leaned toward the pricier side, and the portions were modest. Ordinarily, the amount I ordered would suffice for two, but I managed to finish it all myself.

Today visited Kumar's Boston with an expectation based on my Kumar's Dallas experience, food was so bad here at this location and it lacked basic ingredients including salt. I end up leaving food as is and didn't wanted to even take home. I see it is advertised as south indian cuisine just for namesake but doesn't truly stick to roots. Service was good and prompt.

In my opinion Kumar’s offers the best south indian food in Boston area. They also ferment the dosas, idli and uttapam batter to perfection ?. They also offer a few menus in baby mild option.
Dietary restrictions: They offer baby mild food options on a few menu items.

16$ for 5 pieces of chicken in a 6 inch bowl. Would NOT recommend unless you in a hurry. Many menu options we NOT available. Kind of odd to not have 1/2 of your menu available.Could not split the check if paying on credit. They asked to be tipped in cash.Beautiful tables and very clean.Staff were very friendly and kind.

This place has only just the menu with all the authentic south Indian mostly Tamil dishes but in reality the taste is no where closer to the actual dishes .And if you order a usual Tandoori Fish they are giving a Deep fry Fish which might be frozen for years ..(look at the picture in the post and can anyone say it a Tandoori Fish except for Kumar 's chef and their staff ..LoL ..)Not to mention the prizes, they are charging at least $5 to $8 more for any dish compared to the other restaurants in the area...PLEASE DO NOT ENCOURAGE THIS RESTAURANT.
Very kind and patient wait staff, but the over $50 for a meal that barely feeds 2 is a bit much - especially since the curry had hardly any meat in it. We asked for spicy and it was a bit underwhelming. The restaurant has a charm to it, and it was generally a pleasant experience, but for the very high price point I expect a higher standard of food than what I got.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were back to serving on banana leaves when I walked in to have their non-veg lunch buffet with some family and friends. We came towards the end of the buffet, so the crowd was smaller, but everything on the non-veg buffet tasted great and authentic like we would have at home (my family is Tamil). The service could have been a little faster but I left more than satisfied with the quality and quantity of the food - the servers were attentive when they came by, explained what the dishes were to our non-indian guests, and checked for what else we would like to be brought to the table! Though it's a 40 minute drive for us, still one of our favorite places for great tasting Indian food once in a while and we love showing people the banana leaf and served at your table experience like we have back in the motherland.
Vegetarian options: Many traditional Indian dishes including classic veg options in the non-veg buffet. The a la carte menu seems to have even more options.
Parking: There is plenty of parking as it's in a large shopping center.

We had chicken kothu parotta (with raitha and salna) and pallipalayam chicken gravy (with rice). The food was delicious and the spice level was similar to what we have in south India. Service was also good. The portion size was not too less and not too much. Will go again for south indian Madurai style food.

The service was attentive, efficient, and knowledgeable. I tried 2 different biryani’s which were an absolute delight. The menu offered a fantastic variety of options, and each plate was expertly prepared with the finest ingredients. The ambiance of the restaurant was also worth mentioning.

Nice experience, Wow...I was blown away by the speed of service and quality of food at this restaurant. Perfect 10/10 lip smacking south indian thali and other items. We went as a family of 8 members yesterday and had very good memories. The service is very quick and they have ample space to sit. once we placed the order, dishes came pretty quickly. The food here is amazing. Ganeshan was incredible..he had amazing patience, explained all the dishes in Tamil, and provided great recommendations. This is the best place to have a south Indian thali meal. Wish this restaurant is nearer to me ❤️❤️
