Now managed by Northborough Historical Society, this summer house on 6.5 acres is on the National Register of Historic Places. White Cliffs was built in 1886 for Daniel B. Wesson and Cynthia Wesson, of gun manufacturing fame. A decaying underground oil tank on the site was remediated, and as of 2018 the Town of Northborough is exploring renovation/maintenance and uses for the protected property.
I had my wedding here 7/9/11, it was absolutely perfect and I couldn't have done it with the help of our wedding coordinator Anne Marie. She was amazing to work with and so very kind. We even visited her on our 1 year wedding anniversary!
Charlene and Nancy were amazing to work with. We had 100 people for our son's rehearsal dinner. We had people fly in from overseas and all over the country and everyone said it was well worth it. Sadly, the facility is for sale and that concerned me - but put your fears aside, the staff and the food were as great if not better than what was expected. We had a buffet and every dish was beautifully presented and delicious. The sundae bar was a huge hit with young & old. We used the rooms in the main house and that created a homey ambiance. It was a little warm in one of the rooms but the rest of the rooms were very comfortable. It's an older facility and could use some updates but honestly the historic value and more importantly the quality of the food and the sincere warmth to make our event successful by the staff makes White Cliffs a winning facility. Kudos to the chef for the delicious beautifully presented meals and to all the staff for making our son and daughter-in-law's wedding weekend an event to treasure and remember.
We were going to have a company function here and we are very glad that we did not..the place from the outside looking in is a very old looking building. Once you get inside, it is very dirty and smells bad. The window sills have not been cleaned in years, and the smell inside smells like mildew (mold?) I found myself wondering if the carpeting was as old as the building.... This facility requires a full deposit which is not returned if you need to change or cancel your event (none of which is returned...they keep your full deposit and want more, a gratuity charge and a event charge) which is about a $900 loss if anything happens. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you go to Yelp and read reviews it looks as if the food is bad as well.
