Horrible customer service. First and last time here for me. Management is clearly inexperienced. Went to red lion inn for lunch and had a great experience.

Unfortunately had a disgraceful experience here for my mom’s 60th birthday brunch. This *used to be* her favorite restaurant so my dad had made a reservation a week prior for Sunday brunch for her birthday. When we got there, we were told we had not made a reservation for this Sunday, but actually next Sunday. This was of course an error on the restaurant staff’s part (considering we all overheard him ask for Jan 5th…and he certainly knows his wife’s bday…) but, no big deal, human error. We figured maybe we’d have to wait a little longer due to the mistake - nope! We were very rudely told by the assistant manager (I believe his name is Travis?) they would not be able to seat us at all, all day. When trying to reason with him, he continued to insist that we couldn’t be sure that it was the restaurant’s error, and that it actually is probably our fault in a very condescending tone. He also insisted that there was simply nothing he could do to help us out. Mind you, we had traveled an hour to come for this brunch, and were shocked by this attitude and total lack of willingness to work with us. As someone who’s worked as a hostess at very busy Boston restaurants, it’s not difficult to say “hey, sorry about the error, why don’t you guys grab a drink at the bar and we’ll see what we can figure out by pushing some tables together etc” or even give us a gift card and tell us you’re sorry but happy to have us back another time? I mean, even if it was the customer’s fault, you can still react like a civilized human with decency and a knowledge of customer service. As we left, I mentioned to this assistant manager that this was the worst customer service I’d ever seen, and he continued to argue with me that it was our fault my whole walk out the door. Super embarrassing and jarring behavior on the part of Cheever Tavern. Will unfortunately be spreading the word to avoid in the future, until this dude is gone. We went to Red Lion Inn instead and loved it! Always great service there.

My friend and I just had a very disconcerting experience at this place. We had a reservation for 5:00 for close to a week. When we walked in the place was fairly empty except for two tables with the vast majority of tables empty. The hostess tried to seat us at the first table right as yoiu walked in by the door right in the open. When we asked for a different coice we were told they were reserved for all of their later seatings . We couldn't believe it. We were slightly embarrassed at the hostesses lack of flexibility. We decided to go elsewhere and had a wonderful meal and experience at Oro nearby. I suggest you do the same! Very rude.

Absolutely abysmal service. We didn't even stay for dinner, as we were ignored by the staff- while sitting at their bar. The building does look inviting- but guest beware ......

We loved that gluten free was plentiful and easy to see, portion sizes were generous and food was delicious. Our server Sarah was great and fun to read the history of the restaurant. Definitely a little noisier environment than fine dining but it’s a tavern and our table was well located for us to talk.
We will be back for sure!

Cheever Tavern is an absolute gem! The food is incredible, with every dish perfectly prepared, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The building itself is beautiful, and the ambiance inside makes it the perfect spot for a night out. Highly recommend!

Cheever Tavern is amazing! We used Cheevers as our catering for our rehearsal dinner and it was SO good! It was so easy to order through them and they even delivered it to our location on time! Vivi was so kind to help us through the process. We could not recommend them more for dinner at the restaurant or for your catering needs! Everyone loved the food, even as leftovers!
