Whole lobster with a corn on the cob was the Tuesday special for twenty five dollars. Steak sandwich with fries under twenty dollars. Simple and perfect. Fresh lobster, real steak on a roll, sides, beverages, a view, service. 10/10. Great way to end our visit.

Coop De Ville is hands-down my new favorite spot on the island. The food is amazing, atmosphere is incredible along the water, and the service went above and beyond. Special shoutout to Chef Shamel, who really went out of his way to make my family’s experience so great by catering to our unique requests, and even bringing out our food to the table himself. 10/10 service and staff like that really sets this place apart from the rest. Will definitely be recommending this place to friends, and can’t want to go back soon!

Coop de ville is easily the chilliest most best spot in Oak Bluffs. Came here on our first day for some beers and snacks. The staff was awesome! We really felt at home. We even stopped by after our fishing trip and Shamel , the chef cooked our Bonito fish Jamaican and Cajun style. IT ROCKED!!! Well be back every year and maybe another couple times this week !!

Coop de Ville is truly an island treasure and an absolute must-experience when visiting Martha’s Vineyard. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a staff that is warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly — by the time you leave, you’ll feel like part of the family.
The food is excellent, with something on the menu for everyone, whether you’re craving fresh seafood, comfort classics, or a little bit of both. Their beer selection is also top-notch, with plenty of great options to pair with your meal.
But what really sets Coop de Ville apart is the atmosphere — it’s the perfect blend of laid-back island charm and authentic local flavor. The view is stunning, the vibes are relaxed, and the experience feels real and personal — not at all like the crowded, overhyped tourist spots.
If you’re looking for a true Martha’s Vineyard experience that locals love and visitors never forget, make sure Coop de Ville is on your list. You’ll be glad you did.

Tiny, open-air spot right on the harbor with cold beer, delicious comfort food, and the friendliest staff. We came for the soccer game and were treated like family. My brother-in-law, fresh off a shift in the harbor and needing something gluten-free, was taken care of with a custom plate from the chef—no fuss, just kindness.
Only a few tables, mostly locals, and everyone—from the servers to the kitchen—made the place feel like home. This is the kind of spot you want to find, but only if you know where to look.

I got the Maryland style dry rub wings and fries. The wings were too wet felt like they gave me wet instead of dry but still decent wings. I also got the fries which were shoestring (yum!) but they were not seasoned at all. Service was great my waitress was super nice and even filled my waterbottle at the end. Atmosphere is very fun, I’d recommend for the vibe and a drink but would not recommend the food it was only mediocre. Wings, fries, and soda were $33 which is not too bad for MV!

Order wings at the window, walk around downtown and comeback in like 15. Cajun, old bay, jerk? All on one wing. Juicy and crispy. There's a nice jewelry store behind it and I spent 1/3 of what I thought I was gonna have to and they walked me through picking things out for my girlfriend.

I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at Coop De Ville in Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard. They were not accommodating of food allergies—specifically dairy—and the service was careless at best.
We’re visiting on vacation, and my husband has a severe dairy allergy. Unfortunately, the server did not take this seriously. He ordered tacos, but received a completely different dish. When he pointed this out, the server casually responded, “Oh, I thought you ordered something else,” with no apology or concern.
Worse, when he asked if the dish was dairy-free, the server initially claimed she had noted his dairy allergy. However, when she went to double-check, it turned out the dish contained dairy. She quickly removed the plate and brought out a new order—but the damage could have already been done.
This kind of negligence is dangerous. People can die from allergic reactions. Luckily, my husband didn’t eat much before realizing something was wrong. But this should never happen in a restaurant.
It’s frustrating how often we run into allergy-related issues at restaurants in the U.S. We’ve traveled internationally and rarely face these problems abroad. We’ve been to Martha’s Vineyard several times without incident, but this experience left us shaken.
Restaurants need to do better. Proper training on food allergies is not optional—it’s a matter of safety..

One of our favorite stops on Martha’s Vineyard! We weren’t planning on sitting down, but after the owner greeted us and told us about their BBQ Wednesdays, we decided to grab a seat—and we’re so glad we did. We had a beer, the basket of fries, and the coconut shrimp… which my girlfriend said was the best she’s ever had. She swore she can never eat coconut shrimp again unless it’s from Coop de Ville.
Our server, who was originally from Jamaica, was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the whole vibe was just unmatched—great reggae music, amazing views of the Oak Bluffs harbor, and a laid-back energy that made us want to stay for hours.
The owner mentioned he’s been running the place for 30+ years, and you can feel the love and history in every corner. We’ll be back every year we visit the island. Absolutely recommend stopping by if you’re anywhere near Oak Bluffs. 🌴🍤🍻
