There are a lot of good restaurants in and around Orleans, but only a few great ones. The Barley Neck belongs at the top of that list. Ever since the Hadfield brothers took over the restaurant a few years ago, there's been continuous improvement in everything they have to offer. Great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere with enjoyable entertainment. I'm lucky to live just a short drive from the Barley Neck, but it's worth the drive even if you live miles away!

This place is a GEM!! We had the fried scallops, kimchi fish tacos, haddock and oysters Rockefeller and chowder. Everything was superb!! Loud place but lively and really fresh. Parking lot could use a bit more lighting (for safety), but perfect restaurant. Initial greeting was somewhat underwhelming, as we had a reservation and seemed easily dismissed. Luckily our reservation was located. But the culinary experience was great!

Trivia on Mondays! Everyone loved their food. I had the scampi classico and the shrimp were perfect. Really good wine selection. What's not to love?

This place is horrid. Run by the types who don't even know a Manhattan is supposed to be stirred, or that calamari isn't supposed to have the chew of a large rubber band.

We grab some pizzas on the way out of town. The special was delicious. Had some honey on the pizza right up our alley. The service was quick and easy. We will definitely be stopping back this way next time

We happened to be in Orleans and decided to grab an early dinner at The Barley Neck. We started with a dozen raw oysters and a bottle of French Chardonnay. The oysters were so fresh and delicious we ordered a second dozen. My husband had a lobster pasta dish for his entree and I had a Thai style tuna steak. Both were delicious, but a special thumbs up for the tuna. It was without a doubt the BEST tuna steak I’ve ever had! We finished with the pineapple upside down cake special! O.M.G. Everything was consistently amazing. The service was attentive and welcoming! From beginning to end the experience as a whole was on point! 10 out of 10!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Barley Neck Inn, and I must say, it was a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped into this charming establishment, I felt like I was entering a world of culinary delight and relaxation.
The moment I perused the menu, my eyes landed on the special of the day - a grilled swordfish entree that was nothing short of divine. The presentation was exquisite, and the flavors were simply exquisite. The swordfish was cooked to perfection, with a crispy outer layer and a tender, juicy interior. It was served with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables that were equally scrumptious. Every bite was a symphony of flavors that left me wanting more.
But the meal wasn't just about the food; the drinks played a starring role too. I opted for the Paines Killer, which was described as an iced pina colada. I must say, this concoction was a game-changer. The combination of sweet and sour, with a hint of pineapple and coconut, was pure genius. It was the perfect accompaniment to my meal, and I found myself sipping on it throughout the evening, savoring every last drop.
The atmosphere at Barley Neck Inn was warm and inviting, with a cozy fireplace and soft lighting that set the tone for a relaxing evening. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making sure our every need was met without being intrusive.
In summary, my experience at Barley Neck Inn was nothing short of extraordinary. From the mouthwatering swordfish entree to the refreshing Paines Killer, every aspect of the meal was a delight. If you're looking for a dining experience that will leave you feeling satisfied and content, look no further than Barley Neck Inn. I can't wait to return and try more of their delicious offerings.
