Been going here for 40+ years, the sandwiches/subs are Amazing! The staff behind the counter are fun, sarcastic and make it an enjoyable place to wait for your subs to be made. My Fav Sandwich is The Fresh One with balsamic glaze.

Closed due to power outage. Then update your Google maps timings early on when it says youre open. I tried calling, nobody picks up. 50 min bus to get there. One hour to get back. Waste of time. What a Bad deal fruit.
The food is good thd prices are not terrible but something about this place I don't love that would be staff I feel like they kinda rude.

New Deal Fruit – Italian Grinder Royalty
If you’re looking for the best Italian grinder around, stop. You found it. New Deal Deli doesn’t just make sandwiches—they make statements. And that statement is MEAT.
When you unwrap one of their grinders, you're not playing hide-and-seek with the fillings. The meat hits you like a freight train. We’re talking 70% of that sandwich is pure, glorious Italian cold cuts. No filler, no frills, no BS. Just a perfectly built beast of a sandwich that reminds you why you came in the first place.
Forget those sad excuses you get from other spots—where it’s all bread, lettuce, and a single slice of meat trying to pass as a meal. That’s not a sandwich—that’s an insult. New Deal delivers the real deal.
Hands down, these guys are the best in the area. No contest.

Few months back was looking for a new spot to get a decently priced steak n cheese, and for subs in general. I've always heard good things about New Deal but haven't been there since I was a kid! First time I went, got a couple steak n cheese, meatball sub, chicken parm! And they were amazing! Fully packed the steak n cheese reminded me of Sonny Noto's when they were in East Boston(juices soaked into the bread, tender, packed with flavor)! 2nd time I ordered from there I got the steak n pastrami, although the pastrami over took in flavor, again AMAZING! And the meatball/ eggplant, SO GOOD! And the Manhattan Special Drinks are a bonus, I'm a sucker for a good sarsaparilla root beer!
But the last 2 times(about a month apart) I went the steak n cheese was disappointing, it wasn't packed, to be honest it was more bread then steak. Maybe when adding other items fills out the bread. But for someone who doesn't add toppings(veggies), like my brother and sometimes me, deffinately underwhelming. The favor was still amazing, but for the size sandwich and the price(which is reasonable), not to have a the bread filled...
It's tough to find a good size, good quality steak n cheese or any sub in the area these days. And New Deal are one of the few doing things right. Most looking for affordable decent eats go to Market Basket for a 6 dollar sub same size as New Deal and S&L, and Carmella's in East Boston(they don't do steak but their meatball is one of the best) . But when I want better quality and want that Sonny Noto memory, without going to Wakefield, New Deal is my choice, but with under filled subs(as far as the steak n cheese) , two separate times, is why I gave a 4 stars and why I'd 2nd guess getting the steak. I'd still go back though.... and possibly still get it.

Walk into the deli and the guys behind the counter got more comebacks than a stand-up comic. You ask for a sandwich, they give you a roast and a masterpiece. I ordered The Sinatra—figured it’d be classy. It was also the size of my forearm.
Took it to Revere Beach, sat down to enjoy it. Got halfway through before the seagulls started circling like they knew something. Tossed a few scraps and watched ‘em throw down like it was a turf war.
No frills, no bull—just damn good food. Five Stars. Huge, messy, worth the lip from the deli dudes. Could’ve fed three people or two seagulls and still had leftovers. Classic spot. Don’t let the name fool you—it ain’t just fruit.

After wrapping up a work trip to Revere, I stopped by New Deal Fruit to grab some subs on the way back home to Maine — and I’m so glad I did. I can honestly say this was the best Italian sub I’ve ever had. Everything about the experience was fantastic. The staff were not only helpful but genuinely warm and friendly —there’s a real neighborhood charm to the place that makes you feel instantly welcome. It’s absolutely legit.
You can tell they take pride in what they do. The ingredients were fresh, sliced to order!!!, perfectly layered, and the bread had that ideal balance of crisp and chewy.
If you’re ever anywhere near the area, don’t miss this place. 🙌🏻

Excellent sandwiches and a nice selection of specialty products for groceries. Only complaint is that a cheesesteak is around $14, which is normal now, but a steak bomb is $21. That's quite pricey for what amounts to a handful of vegetables and salami thrown in.

1st timer, long timer onlooker, but won't be the last time now. The subs are ridiculously hugely tasty nestled in the perfectly soft yet firm bread. Do yourself a favor and if ya haven't done it yet, just go! You'll love the old school family atmosphere, trust me!
