I don't know if there's new owners or what, but this place has gone downhill in the past nearly 10 years I've been going. They changed the tejas chicken recipe, portions are smaller, the drinks all taste watered down, the waiters drop off your food and don't even bother checking in after. The staff is rude, too. Standoffish almost? I don't know. This isn't a one off bad experience either, it's been a few times now I have the same poor service and disappointing food.
I'm really sad to see it go downhill like this, I loved this place but not anymore.

We got the chicken quesadillas they were very oily inside no flavor or barley chicken.atmosphete music too loud have to yellto talk stuff all over the floor waited ten minutes for a check. not a very good time

I have been coming here for nearly 15 years enjoying both food and experience all the time until recently. Sadly, over the last few years the quality has gone down to the point where we refuse to come back and have found new alternatives. New ownership has ruined this gem. They should be fired and return to their old ways!

I’ve been going to Border Café since the first opened in Saugus on the southbound side of route one about 25 years ago. It used to be very good and they provided good portions and the price was reasonable. Unfortunately, has gone downhill since then while the prices have gone up substantially over the last couple years . I just left there after attempting to have appetizer and a fajita. I never got the appetizer and the fajita came out about 5 minutes after I ordered, as if it was scooped out of a steam table, cafeteria style; was lukewarm and didn’t seem fresh. I could’ve got a better meal at Taco Bell and probably better service. No one came back to see how everything was until I was almost done and I was never offered another margarita or any water or anything. Was very disappointing along with the poor service and will never go back . There are so many better places to go that will be more reasonably priced for a similar meal. Don’t waste your money unless you want a crappy, overpriced meal and crappy service.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES!!!! I have Celiac and ordered the blackened chicken no rice extra beans (they have gf rice I just opted out) I of course told the server when I ordered and she said she would tell them and make sure. Well, when the food came out it had the rice that I knew was not gf on it so I told her before she left the table. She apologized, double checked that cross contamination was not ok. Was apprehensive to eat but unfortunately did and was feeling sick before even leaving the restaurant. Told the waitress and she said “Ugh, I told them about the cross contamination!” Which told me they just put the chicken that was over the gluten rice on a new plate. The manager offered a 2 dinner voucher. 0/10 would notttt recommend.
