I don't like the Steel Rail extra pale ale. It reminds me of Strohs or the house brew from the Hops Chain brewery. Opa Opa has that same happy funk.

Great little craft beer spot! We took a detour and stopped here on a whim on our way home after a disappointing experience at a larger brewery nearby - so glad we did. The atmosphere is small and friendly with a neighborly vibe, very family friendly and saw several dogs there as well. There were board games to play, chalk to draw with, and great live music all of which kept the kids entertained. The beertender in the tap room was so nice, she took time to make conversation and ask and get a feel for what types of beers you like and which ones you don't to make the best suggestions for someone visiting the brewery for the first time. I don't like IPAs, and in the New England beer scene that can sometimes leave me with few options, especially at smaller craft breweries here. Berkshire had a great depth of varieties on tap that I was happy to sample in a few flights and we left with several packages from the cooler to take home. We'll definitely be back if we're in the area again!

Small tasting area, but knowledgeable staff on the variety of beers on tap. Was able to catch it on a quiet off-season moment. The beer did not disappoint. Plucked the cabin fever ipa and the Czech Pilsner. Tremendous taste, relaxed atmosphere!

Pretty good beer. They have a lot of options on tap, o count at least 15, really love the farmstand raspberry, they have snacks as chips and peanuts, and my visit day a food truck, on the bar they have a list of places to eat around, it has a nice patio, I recommend this place 100%

WoW. Hands down some of the best beer I've ever had. I was blown away by the red! Did not expect that. And as always coffee porter was amazing. This summer was also one of my favorites. I am not an IPA drinker, so I did not try any IPAs. Amazingly friendly staff. And the place is loaded with friendly people. What a great time. Glad we stopped in!

Popped in here after a day of skiing. Was looking for something local and was more than happy with the exceptional beer and great service. This place is classic, antique and old school memorabilia all over and Bethany the bartender (I think that is her name) was great. This place is worth the drive, snow or not. 5 stars

I'm just so impressed by the friendliness of this brewery, everyone was so willing to help me out. I was in the area hiking and wanted to explore the town, I went to the brewery before they were opened, but they offered the to go beer and made suggestions, I will bet back when I'm on the area again:)

I ordered a flight of beer here and did not regret it. The flavors were unique and I believe everything was brewed right here! I was very impressed with the service, quality and variety. They are also children friendly and lend them chalk to draw on the ground! A++!

Very dog friendly! They welcomed my dog and others inside the building, had bowls for her, treated her like a queen. The place had a cool vibe, the beer was great, so was the location. We will be back with the dog.

I absolutely love this brewery. Their Berkshire Lager is one of the best beers in America. So many great beer options in a beautiful town.

Berkshire Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in South Deerfield, Massachusetts in 1994. It was founded by brewers Gary Bogoff and Christopher Lalli. Bogoff was originally a general contractor and cabinet maker before he took up home brewing as a hobby in 1991. He and Lalli would soon realize that they both had a passion for quality beer, so they decided to open their own brewery. They had a dream to introduce premium lager drinkers to the world of quality craft beer. The location they picked in South Deerfield to house their new operation was a former cigar manufacturing plant. By word of mouth, and taste buds, their flagship beer "Steel Rail Pale Ale" became an instant success with beer drinkers in Western Massachusetts. All BBC beer is unfiltered, unpasteurized, and contains no chemical additives or preservatives. Lalli would leave the business after 20 years, but Bogoff continues to grow the company. BBC is now one of the largest craft breweries in New England. My wife and I first visited Berkshire Brewing Company in April 2014. This was one of the first craft breweries that we ever visited and toured. It's relatively close to the popular Yankee Candle Village. At that time, tours were only done on Saturdays at 1:00 PM sharp. Our tour guide was Bob Migliaccio, who was the brewmaster at that time. He asked everyone to simply call him 'Brewmaster Bob'; he was quite the character. We were really impressed with the facility and all of the equipment. As you can imagine, customers were treated to generous samples of beer in the 'Dick Schatz' Tap Room. Schatz was a retired volunteer who worked at BBC until he passed away in 2006. He donated his large collection of beer memorabilia to the brewery and it now adorns the taproom. Not only did customers get to sample several of BBC's mainstays, but even some experimental beers that weren't available to the general public. My favorite BBC offerings would have to be "Green Gown Double IPA", "Drayman's Porter", "Coffeehouse Porter", and "The Russian Imperial Stout". Although several New England craft breweries have come and gone over the years, BBC has persevered for nearly 30 years and I hope that they continue to brew excellent brews for several more years.
