Discovered this gem some years ago as the result of a mail coupon. It immediately became our go-to Mexican restaurant, and one of my favorite restaurants all together. From service (bus staff better than your average waitstaff), to food, to bar service, (the house margarita, on tap, is awesome), as good as the classic hole-in-wall places in San Diego that I was introduced to years ago that set the bar for Mexican food.
This is my go to dine in restaurant for Mexican cuisine. I like most of the food served here. Gave three star as I ordered guacamole dip by mistake instead of the table side guacamole and it was stale and horrible for $9.00. Fiesta sizzlers generally come sizzling but it was just hot yesterday. I plan to go back again and try something else like enchiladas next time. Advice to owner- your table side guacamole is great then why keep stale dip guacamole in the menu for just $4 less?....
As far as sit down Mexican restaurants go I am not impressed. It is more expensive than the comparable places and nowhere near as good. Perhaps not actually comparable because it’s overpriced and lacking in quality. The presentation is the best part and also the last thing I am looking for when I’m purchasing a burrito (or chimichanga). The steak is a low-mid quality cut and they don’t season their meat whatsoever. Lacking flavor.
