The Cafe used to be loud but now that it has expanded it is terrific. Great food and good service.

Been here a few times but today after wrapping up some early morning work in Hartford at 6am and running on about 5 hours sleep across 2 days i decided I didn’t want to have anything to do with thinking about what to eat. so I drove past a few very decent breakfast places for forty minutes just so I could sit down at the Gristmill Counter and tell my server, “give me whatever you want, just no jalapeños”. I ended up with the Special Kay sandwich and a pancake that had crumbled OREO’s ! I dont think I’m ever going to stop thinking about how unique and amazing the food was. As was being able to talk with the cook about the greatest hip hop group ever The Onyx. Everyone here is super great and the owner Don needs his face on the Rushmore of people that know how deal with life’s minor and major inconveniences best. He is really a treat. The man has a humor and wit of a trial attorney and observation comedian rolled into one prime example of the best that New England has to offer.

Let me start off by saying, there is no bad breakfast place in Southwick, they are all good. What makes Gristmill Cafe stand out for me is the weekend specials, the staff, everybody is very friendly, personable and they all seem to work very well as a team together. We enjoy going to go see what French toast special they have, just when you thought you had the best French toast from there, you go back the following week and there’s another deliciously flavored French toast. That goes for the Benedict specials too.
This was our first time after salivating over the specials board postings for a month or two. The food was phenomenal, as was the service. The creativity of the specials was impressive. We all got the "ranch hand benedict" which was out of this world. The owner provided a nice personal touch by coming over to check on us, and even let us taste their trademark chili. We are instant fans, and can't wait to go back!
Delicious food and great service!!

The best food in the area. Ask to see Donnie! Get any of the daily specials like the stuffed French toast, or try one of “The Wick” specialties. Chocolate chip pancakes are amazing here!

It's not like it used to be. Disappointing.
If you are a regular then you are seated and served right away. If you're new town then expect to wait, or even be ignored. We just moved to the area and would like to find a 'go to' place. It won't be here.

This was one of the best breakfasts I have had in a while. The biscuits and gravy and hash were the stars for our group but there was nothing mid. Dom, the owner was funny and inviting. Told us each week are different specials. Will be back soon!
Me and my family love coming here! Food is always fresh friendly atmosphere
Excellent breakfast spot. Everybody was so friendly and the food was delicious 😋 A+
Great place
We got there at 1p and they serve lunch, they were out of nearly everything, and the person I was with, ordered something which they came back and told us they didn't have an ingredient in that too. When the food came out, her bread was incorrect and had to be remade. Lastly, apparently the restaurant closes at 2p, so they started putting all the chairs up around us and dropped the check to make us rush out. We boxed up our terrible food, paid the check and left.
