Everything was great except for where we were seated. It looked like they added a table for six right as you walk into the dining room, even though there were plenty of other tables open. There was a customer in a wheelchair who had a hard time getting to her table because of the location of our table, and servers also had to keep "squeezing" past us.

First off, Max Tavern prepares the best filet mignon in the area rivaled only by it's sister restaurant, Max Downtown, and Feng Chophouse in downtown Hartford. But tonight I had the swordfish which was on their daily specials menu. The swordfish was the best grilled fish I have ever had. Thanks Max Tavern for a great dining experience once again.

Way over priced, drinks while waiting at the bar were good but drinks at the table not so much. Why have a a fresh orange juicer on the bar if you don't use it? Steaks were just okay and at $59 each should have been much better.

Excellent menu. There are many seafood items on the menu in addition to all the beef. Nice wine list Always expect service at Max's to be attentive and this was no exception.

Special Bacon wrapped Tenderloin was tender and perfectly seasoned and prepared. The whole presentation was wonderful. The Halibut was tasty , moist and very tender. Even though we were fully satisfied with the amount of food we di give in to trying the Chocolate Zucchini cake with Blueberries and Toasted Marshmallow ice cream. It was wonderful. The size was definitely made for sharing. The service staff was attentive and had great suggestions. A wonderful Anniversary meal.

We've dined here before but this visit was subpar. While the food was good, the service was lacking. The restaurant was very quiet and in fact by the time we left, we were the only table in our section. But for some reason our server was absent most of the evening. We waited 10 minutes before anyone even came over for water. Our server never asked if we wanted drinks, I had to ask for one. That non-alcoholic drink took 30 minutes to arrive. Our apps came out quickly but our server didn't come back to take our entree order. I had to eventually flag her down and ask if we could order dinner. Overall the lack of service just left a bad taste. For the expense, we likely won't return.
Overall a good experience. Service and ambiance were very good. My food (Turkey Club and Fries) was just okay.

The food & drinks were awesome! We had a seafood sampler, crab cake, halibut, and tuna. But it was Kyle who really made our night so special. We are your average middle-aged full-time working parents who don't get out too often. We left our kids at home for the first time without a babysitter and were in town for a comedy show. We were late for our reservation, but finally made it in, feeling a little frazzled, a little rushed, and finding it hard to relax right away. Kyle changed all that. He set the vibe, suggested some entrees, and was super attentive. Overall, it was a great date night! Thanks to Kyle for making such a great memory for us! We really appreciate the fantastic service!
